I do not think he was a hired gun, or had experience of any kind. At 130 yards, there is little wind drift, and practically no lag from firing till impact. One round of 7.62 to the chest from an easy-to-source hunting rifle would have been deadly, but the shooter went with an AR, and proceeded to miss 8 times. Not a professional.

Furthermore, the distance was not that much for even a proper sniper rifle to be needed. Could have been done with a good hunting rifle. Who goes for a carbine for shooting a president hopeful. Political violence in usa is truly appalling,

Fully expected of non dharmic societies, where a strong police and strict enforcement of law is required 24/7 to prevent the society from spiralling into chaos. Which leads to a perception of totalitarianism among the people and high handedness in police behaviour , which further drives the feedback loop until a civil war or subversion of society by external elements happens. US of A is a live example of this. Compared to this the our own Bharath which has a less police presence or enforcement and largely dharmic (read hindu) population (for now) will not spiral into chaos , killing and death so easily despite lax enforcement of law by police. Of course stray incidents will be there and may even appear like the order of the day, but compared to the sheer no. of people in our country, it's very less in proportion compared to the US

Aren't most hunting rifles bolt action? So, this amateur assassin might've thought it's better to fire a dozen in few seconds for better result, because if he misses the first shot there is no second chance for him.
Also, you can't ignore that there was a huge US flag hanging on the top creating unnatural turbulence beneath, which might have made the shot more difficult than what he would've assumed for the decent AR.
