The Su-57 can only be a Su-30 replacement. It's not a 5th gen fighter to begin with.Yes, buy the Su-57 and kill of our indigenous fighter program. What could possibly go wrong?

I strongly believe India will go for 36-40 F 35A fighters in the interim given that Trump had offered the same in 2018. Post 20th January 2024, Trump will again offer the F 35A but will seek heavy concessions such as a Stryker deal.Behold the A-LCA, inspired off the 2014 AMCA version with diamond wings, known to be the stealthiest one yet but couldn't be continued as wings were too small. It'll however fit a single-engine light fighter.

Chinks are talking about pain Pakis an old nuke-sub next year. If they take delivery of 60 J-35s between 2027-30, we'll be stranded.
Su-57 is not the answer. It's the bullshit you write to make you answers long enough.
“At the moment, India is considering a number of U.S. systems for purchase, all of which USPACOM fully supports: the F-16 for India’s large single-engine, multi-role fighter acquisition program; the F/A-18E for India’s multi-engine, carrier-based fighter purchase; a reorder of 12-15 P-8Is; a potential purchase of SeaGuardian UAS; MH-60R multi-role sea-based helicopter; and F-35 Joint Strike Fighter…
The possibility of F-35s wearing Indian Air Force roundels is not new. During the Obama Administration, as India tightened up more and more with the United States, the possibility was often discussed in defense circles and by the author of this post. But that administration was far heavier handed when it came to controlling weapons exports compared to the Trump Administration, which has a not so secret affinity for selling American weaponry to allies abroad.
“Our inventory objective for the F-35 is [1,763]. I don't know what we'll end up buying, and nobody can predict that right now. I know we're going to buy more, and we're going to be buying more for some period of time. At some point, this will be dependent on what we do with [Next Generation Air Dominance] and what we do with [Collaborative Combat Aircraft], we'll probably revisit that, [but] I don't think we're ready to do that yet,” Frank Kendall said during an event at the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies.
NGAD might be a single engine design based on the XA100 (200 KN) with numbers ~300 units with target price of ~$100-150 Million/aircraft.
Previous plans for a large twin engine NGAD with 2 x XA102 (156 KN) engines with numbers ~200 units has been effectively scrapped due to cost concerns ($300 Million/aircraft).

If we think of a the Su 57 is a LO anti-stealth aircraft due to it's side facing L Band AESA radars it makes more sense.Su-57 Vs AMCA. It is up to DoD of they implement the possible elements, & timely.

According to Alex Hollings, a renowned figure in the field, the challenges initially faced by the Su-57 are similar to those experienced by any fighter jet, including the F-35 and F-22. “Even completed aircraft often struggle to make a strong initial impression,” Hollings notes.
However, unlike the Su-57, the F-22 and F-35 have taken lessons from their early days and continually evolved. As Hollings explains, “Online discussions about the Radar Cross Section [RCS] often stir debate, and one should approach them with caution. Expert analysis suggests that the RCS of the Su-57 is around 0.5 square meters, which, unfortunately, does not quite hit the mark. Interestingly, the non-stealth 4th generation F/A-18 Super Hornet also possesses a similar RCS when it’s unarmed. In contrast, the RCS of the F-22 Raptor is five times smaller than that of the Su-57,” Hollings elucidates.

Also there are signs that the USAF may divest it's planned F 35 inventory due to NGAD's evolving nature and CCA. The US has a habit of peddling it's older tech (F-16, F-15, F-18) to client nations like India, Israel, UK, Australia, Germany, etc.
Old news. Things have changed now.
The induction of the fifth generation J-35 into the Pakistan Air Force is set to significantly boost the country's air power as it is considered to be superior to India's advanced fighter aircraft, such as Sukhoi Su-30MKI and Rafale.
Meanwhile, according to IDRW, Pakistan's move may prompt the US to offer India the F-35A, a fifth-generation fighter, with enhanced stealth, situational awareness, and reduced vulnerability.
The Defence Ministry has set up a committee to address the capability development of the Indian Air Force (IAF) amid critical shortage of fighter jets, weapons, and equipment, government officials told India Today.
Chaired by the Defence Secretary, the committee includes senior ministry officials, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) chairman Dr Samir V Kamat, and IAF representatives.
After comprehensive IAF briefings, the panel was tasked with preparing recommendations, which are expected to be submitted within two to three months.

Which means I still have some hopes left to see my dream Su-30MkI with two F135-PW-400seek heavy concessions
> There are many types of media outlets by different type of people, some by Ex-servicemen, some by regular citizens. Offcial sites talk less, personal sites by viewership make some money. The SU 57 has the RCS of a clean F 18 Super Hornet so it's no where near as stealthy as per our requirements. Also it's in the IOC stage at best and with the Russia-Ukraine war, production facilities will be strained to meet demands.
