I don't agree to this hypothesis that we can be macho & reckless without having a developed economy and military.

Things in Bangladesh are going the wrong way. Islamists and the Army may be happy to oust Sheikh Hasina but in the process loosing Indian goodwill. For a developing country and poor, loosing friendliness of a big neighbour is not a good sign. Already, the power to its textile export business has been turned off. It will affect employment and exports. Next to be turned off is energy Pipelines. That will bring other industrial activity to a halt. If India does not supply thermal coal, all the power plants will come to a grinding halt.

Hence, the Islamist and the Army should ask themselves that their enmity for nothing will ever do any good.

India was doing all this to get a direct river transport and rail contact from West Bengal to Assam. If that is cut off by Islamists and the Army, India still has connection via Silliguri Corridor, hence nothing is lost for India.

Alternative is that, India may take away half of Bangladesh’s textile business as nobody from the West will place orders with them during political turmoil.

Hence, enmity with India is loose …. loose for Bangladesh.
