Most of them seems bait. Not every rabid dog on street needs to be beaten with stick. Reckoning will come to it sooner or later due to rabies.
There isn't a single thing we can gain by "Commando Thing against BGB". The more pressing thing needs to be guarding borders to prevent infiltrators which BSF isn't exactly known for.
Could India try some minor salami slicing

there will be a lot of baiting, that's a given.

they need a new "enemy" to keep their citizens distracted from real issues. the more they "escalate", is an indication that things are getting effed up internally because of internal power plays. and their handlers probably already have their scripts ready and waiting even for a little bit of hint of our reaction.

so the question arises, whether we knowingly walk into their traps, or choose our time and place of our response.

These above interactions seem a little warmer than the ones with Modi. The US, when it comes down to it, likes countries and leaders they feel they can control, and, more importantly, who won't be competitive with US interests in any way. Bangladesh qualifies, India doesn't.

Thanks your stars. Last time President met Indian PM so warmly was with MMS (Trump Modi was and is an outlier)

The dream of a secular, democratic nation of Bangladesh went to the grave with Mujib. Realistically, they never had a shot after that.

BD is sinking without India doing anything.

Unless one wants it to sink faster, India should play the nice guy and let it go to dogs.

Let them sink at their own pace.
And who knows what the GOI is doing, it's not like they are go announce to the world what they are doing.

Mexico, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines and India( one hopes most of all) should grab all the textile orders that might have gone to Bangladesh. And any other items they export( whatever those limited things are) should be covered by India and these other countries.

I believe the more India ignores the provocation the more they'd up the ante . I say if they perpetrate another outrage like this 👇,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deaths_along_the_Bangladesh–India_border

it'd be very difficult for the Modi government to keep the peace . Ironically this happened during SHW's previous tenure as PM. It's widely suspected the BDR which even otherwise wasn't under the AL government's control went rogue .

The said incident did what it was supposed to , contribute to rising nationalism & helped the BNP Jamat coalition back to power in elections held not very long after this particular incident.

At the same time elements in BD will use the retaliation to torment Hindus there thus setting into motion a series of tit for tats further worsening the situation all around.

Either way our honeymoon with BD if that's what it was under SHW is over & the days & months ahead will be increasingly fraught.
