SHANGHAI, July 22 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese tech startup on Tuesday delivered a tonne-class electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, marking a breakthrough in the application of large eVTOLs.

Developed by the Shanghai-based company AutoFlight, the V2000CG CarryAll boasts a maximum takeoff weight of 2 tonnes.

Following the acquisition of the type certificate and production certificate last year, along with the airworthiness certificate acquired on Monday, the unmanned aircraft will be operated by a Guangzhou-based low-altitude transportation business.

The all-electric V2000CG CarryAll has a payload capacity of up to 400 kg with a maximum cruising speed of 200 km per hour and a range of 200 km. It features vertical takeoff and landing capabilities and a fixed-wing cruising design, enabling its applications in low-altitude logistics, emergency response and other fields.

Xie Jia, senior vice president of AutoFlight, said that the aircraft type has so far completed more than 40,000 km of safe flights over various terrains across China and other countries such as the United Arab Emirates and Japan, which help validate its performance and explore its potential application scenarios.

The eVTOL's delivery comes as China's low-altitude economy is entering a stage of rapid growth. According to the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the market value of the sector will soar from 500 billion yuan (about 70 billion U.S. dollars) in 2023 to 1.5 trillion yuan in 2025, and that number could reach an astounding 3.5 trillion yuan by 2035.

Aircraft are not cars.

Mexico and Brazil have Evtols. Embraer has a large operational one. Mexico one experimental, but not for that I will deny the reality.

An EV car weighs more than an ICE car, because batteries are very heavy.

In aircraft weight is the first problem, the Halcon 2 takes you 1500km for barely less than 100 liters of fuel, with a single engine or 5 hours flight.

But more drag more thrust needed, more weight more speed or bigger wings. if you understand that you can understand Evtols have no future beyond city services.



The difference is the Halcon 2 will take me from Mexico city to the american border but the EVtol will not take farther than Queretaro, which in the other hand I can take a bus or train to do the same trip for a mucher cheaper ticket price

The Mi-17 helicopter, unlike its predecessor - Mi-8 helicopter - has a three-bladed anti-torque rotor at the left rear side, and the intake openings are equipped with deflectors separating solid particles from air (sand, dust, etc.).

The helicopter is equipped with excellent navigation and information system and modern design that enables safe day and night transport of personnel even under very adverse weather conditions. The basic version is used to fulfil military, police and civilian tasks. It is equipped with an effective system of air defence against infra-red-navigation missiles. The cockpit has three seats. The cargo compartment with its dimensions of 5.34 metres of length, 2.32 m of width, and 1.8 m of height, has a sliding door at the front left part of the fuselage and, at the rear, a large, double-wing loading door. It has a three-wheel non-retractable landing gear with a front double-tyred leg. An additional fuel tank can be mounted on each side of the fuselage to carry 1,830 litres of fuel in total.

Giovanni Angelucci, director of Horizontec, said the cost of the Halcon II is between $120,000 and $170,000, depending on the model.
The Halcón II took to the skies for the first time on July 4, 2022, and on February 6, it received certification to begin commercialization, making it the first 100% Mexican aircraft to obtain this type of certification. The aircraft is designed to serve three market sectors: pilot training, recreational use, and aerial surveillance. Its cost is around $180,000 dollars.

Energy density

The performance of batteries is specified in terms of the energy they store divided by their weight, expressed in kWh/kg. This is the battery’s energy density. The theoretical maximum for a lithium-ion battery with a lithium metal oxide cathode and graphite anode is 0.27 kWh/kg. In practice, battery packs have not yet approached this value. For example, the high-performance Tesla S uses a 100-kWh battery that weighs about 1,375 pounds, which equates to an energy density of 0.16 kWh/kg. Bye Aerospace optimistically quotes a value of 0.25 kWh/kg for its eFlyer 2’s battery.

But those figures are still very low compared to avgas, which has an energy content of 12.3 kWh/kg—about 50 times greater. Putting it in perspective, the energy content in the Tesla S battery is the same as 2.1 gallons of avgas.

An aircraft that is capable of vertical takeoff, such as a helicopter, needs a more powerful engine than an aircraft whose lift is provided by wings. For example, a small helicopter engine’s power rating is about 1.5 times that of a conventional airplane of the same weight. This can be seen when comparing the Robinson R44 with a Cessna 172 or a Bell Jet Ranger with a Beechcraft Bonanza. Helicopter rotor blades are like wings with a high aspect ratio, designed to produce as much lift as possible with minimum drag. Forward thrust is provided by effectively tilting the rotor, but even in forward flight about 90 percent of the power is used to provide lift.
