BTW, every culture/geography has differet new year.

In our sub-continent since milleniums, as per Panchaang/calendar the new year is celebrated in March to April after harvesting which brings prosperity during pleasant season.
But global business & computers needs a sync, that's all.

What I have learnt recently.

We should celebrate our festival with great enthusiasm and respect. Now on I am going to celebrate each and every festival.
