What is everybody's opinion of 75% attendence requirements at undergrad levels, feeling really exhausted , it's like 9-5 for me.
Govt probably keeps the requirement to prevent drop-out and failure rates from rising, but it feels like I am wasting like 2-4 hours doing nothing.
totally bull-fuckin'-shit requirement, and in my kaalej these fvkers even put some 50% marks for this attendance only under 'sessional' section; Like even if you scored well enough on your exams, if your attendance is not good, high chances you will fail due to not scoring required marks under 'sessional'
i failed one time this way only
AND YES IT BLOODY DID FEEL LIKE UNPAID JOB FOR MOST PART; AND IF YOU HAVE TO SUFFER AHMEDABAD'S DUSTY HOT WEATHER WITH JUST FANS IN YOUR ROOM, YOU WILL GET FED UP EASILY
Garbage, I never felt the need of going to college a lot when it used to be largely useless. Travel for an hour only to have classes cancelled and friends absent. Profs teaching things that as per them would come in paper but at the end you have to self study enough to tackle the twisted questions. Unlike schools, colleges are much different and they shouldn't have any sort of attendance caps.
7 / 10 instructors-professors et al in my college were women, including our HoD; and they had this tendency of egos getting bruised if you dared to not attend their lectures
Heck, I had got this particular professor who allegedly contributed a lot in open source projects and all, so her ego was super high - now i didn't have any particular tiff with her but she looked down at me over 'being undisciplined'
So during summertime, us hostellers would frequently face water shortage issues, and since everyone wanted to get a shower during that weather, forming lines outside bathrooms and all...sometimes it would make us late at reaching first lecture...Unfortunately this madam was our first lecturer and she would publically make us feel ashamed for arriving even five minute late, asking 'why' parts, imagine that you have to repeat it everyday in front of your friends that hostels have barely 4-5 bathrooms and even lesser toilets for entire floor of 150+ students and it gets busy during morning in this weather...AND YET SHE WOULD NOT GIVE US ATTENDANCE SOMETIMES...that would eventually be reflected in our marksheet
College exams themselves are a joke, I had to write code on paper during exams !, it frustrated me so much that I chooses cybersec domain when I got chance.
Haha happened with me a lot, especially during DSA external practicals with mind numbing algos to be written on paper.
been there, done that,
but in my case, they would even demand for printouts of our codes during submission at the end of semester...THAT YOU MUST GET DONE FROM THEIR COMPUTER LABS USING THEIR A-2 SIZED CONTINUOUS ROLLS OF PERFORATED PAPERS ON FREAKIN' DOT MATRIX PRINTERS!
Every term end, you'd juggle around one lab to other, to first submit text files of your codes/programs to their shared drive, then to wait patiently as they print all of it, then get your bunch of rolled printed papers, then to carefully tear it into sheets, then affix it all on large folders...ONLY THEN they would be kind enough to...well...skim through your bunch and put their signatures at index paper - a sign that your programs have been submitted
overall it felt like handling a government bank office than actual computer lab of 21st century
