Is it the right time to bring up what some people say about our military?

Is there really that many troops necessary?.. Again you can use locally stationed Police/Paramilitary to setup cordons, keep only a company or 3 of these RR Commandos per district to be heliborne to encounter location quickly to get the kill done.
Use the helis too... A few side mounted grenade-launchers instead of miniguns & IR-Guided rockets can do wonders in search & halal (can even thermal scan at night from air).

My point is we shouldn't ten them as SF is this is what were using them for... Maybe create an RR Commando force & depute all SF members there for temporary experience gaining. They can then assault hooked up militants or hunt then in the hills.

But this is not what 9Para should be permanently & full-time

Yes, that was me. My argument was larger caliber weapons will be difficult to carry, transport and conceal.

So tangoes got the smallest, lightest RPG possible which is small enough to fit inside pherans / jackets.

Anyway, escalation ladder is also controlled by us. RPG/MANPADSs in Kashmir also means RPG/MANPAGS + More to BLA seperatists.

My question is why isn't goi escalating?

On paper RR should be a fully dedicated Counter Terror Units. But they were not properly equipped to fight the Tangoes. They don't have any "Call air support commencing Apache ops ETA 5 mins" to provide overwhelming fire support.

They don't have enough NVG to support night fighting. Don't have "TAPAS BH-201 Operator from Chitradurga" to provide Drone isr and strike platform. We don't provide them scopes for their guns. Don't provide Armored vehicles like M4, ASLV etc. Don't provide MMG for truck based fire support.

And top of that we are calling Special Forces like PARA SF which should be ideally aligned with India's External Policy and Vishwaguru ambition. Honestly, Para SF should be in Myanmar Jungles taking down Insurgents big bosse. Smoking Paki generals, Taking down Chinese PLA officers in Tibet. These kind of ops should they do.


But nowadays it is either rag tag infantry supported by super rag tag infantry.

My assessment..

Any cross loc fuckery by us will lead to a lot of losses on both sides.

In the end our emotional junta will put pressure and nothing substantial can be achieved.

My honest and humble assessment is that Our Army is not ready for a modern warfare.

We are capable of conducting raids and running away but i dont think we will be able to hold ground.

So the best scenario is what the government is doing that is treating Indian soldiers as cannon fodder to buy time and increase the GDP.

I dont see Modi taking any action…maybe his successor will have to around 2035-2040.

Balakot and Uri shows that you can make small incursions/attacks without escalation into a proper hot war
Chings do this all the time at LAC with Galwan and Doklam being the most famous examples.

The thing is whether it's a politician, bureaucrat or those who get promoted to top ranks in the forces...

They all have the same objective... making money for:
1. Wives jewelry
2. Retirement farm house
3. Kids foreign education

Apart from delusions:

1. You cannot end terrorism in the valley, you can reduce it like the post-abrogation times where we were dominating them and Kashmir was largely peaceful.

2. "We should raid paki posts, bomb them, attack them" sound good on social media, you face an enemy that has a military more than twice the size of yours irrespective of how tiny their GDP might be.

3. Attacking paki army won't yield anything, Baloch freedom fighters and Taliban shag them on a daily basis, and that too in a terrain where PAA and PAF can actually strafe them to stone age. Pakis don't care about their cannon fodders.

4. Our aim should be to create large hit squads (unknown gunmen) to take down potential threats before they come here. Frankly, that's what I expect R&AW to be doing, but so far only former terrorists have been shot dead.

5. No amount of modernisation can help us with ambushes; not every truck, jeep, car on official Army usage can be armoured. They will find loopholes to ambush you anyways.


You are surrounded by folks in our neighbourhood who believe in ghazwa-e-Hind and jihad against mushrikeen to be the greatest act they can do. Step 1 : Have a single dedicated team for CI/CT instead of whatever this Akhil Bhartiya Commando Sammelan going on in Kashmir. Either have full fledged airborne COIN units like I mentioned or just RR doing what they're raised to do at the maximum potential.

Step 2 : Intelligence. From satellite surveillance of cross border launchpad to communications of OGWs every single thing should be known. Obviously it won't stop everything but atleast we won't be standing with surprised Pikachu face while 40 of our Chaps would lay their lives down for us. We have so much resource, agencies, budget at our disposal and still it feels like OSINT guys know more.

Step 3 : Go after the money. Put some effort in tracking down the trail and find the businesses/individual who are the "financiers". Either tackle them legally or use kinetic means. No revolution survives without money.

Step 0, 1 and 3 follows a Sine wave curve. You tighten the things, situation becomes normal, you get relaxed, things go in motion again and situation becomes hot.

Time to time, money dries up, insurgency goes down, intelligence go up. Then you become complacent, intelligence gets scarce, fresh money flows again, insurgency goes up again.

At the end its all about the political will!

I don't completely agree with this and think its passing the buck by IA to babus. Army is well within its rights to apply pressure on GoI to take action instead of always just complaining and behaving like yes man. For example during the cuban missile crisis in 1962 the US military genrols exerted enormous pressure on JFK to take military action on cuba. Though in that case JFK was proved right, I believe here its the other way round, Maulana and Mota only do baniyagiri and less said about Khangress the better, so that being the case IA genrols need to take initiative and put heavy pressure on GoI to take action to initiate disproportionate response and salami skice PoK territory to prevent infiltration, instead of doing #RRMB. Atleast they should try to do this and in the process if they get fired atleast they would have a clear conscience of having tried to do good for the country, instead of sacrificing more soldiers to the meat grinder.
Tell me has any top genrol presented any kind of comprehensive final soln. plan to PMO or GoI to end or atleast minimize to negligible level this stupid porkie 2 bit jihadi nonsense....or is it that they too are interested in only prolonging this to keep getting promotions ?
