I was reading on India Today copy from August 2023 and in that there was a whole spread of some (((committee))) being established to (((revamp))) DRDO with a greater focus on the (((Private Sector))), dalals everywhere seems to be gunning for the poor DRDO walas

Full spread read like a hit-piece against DRDO with just 2-3 lines about the late Parrikar roasting the Genrols over their ever changing specs and "Marvel Comics" style demands from deshi equipment.

DRDO and HAL/ADA should be made umbrella agencies for research and research only and should hire pvt firms to do manufacturing job for them.

It's happening now, you have WhAp( Tata, Mahindra ) and ATAGS( Tata, Kalyani ) as the more prominent pilot projects but there may be others also.

They are/were only doing research + prototype development, actual manufacturing in the past was undertaken by other DPSU because private sector cowards didn't want to like BEL, BDL or those OFBs

This is an insane broadband absorption RAM ( 2.54–40 GHz with 90% absorption) from IIT Kanpur. Will be very useful for future stealth platforms. It's also ruggedized and dosen't use metal or spacers, so probably lighter and mechanically stronger. Very interesting.

Naah Man, that's not how US modus operandi goes. If USA has decided to damage your MIC then they'll provide you easier access to their one generation old tech so that the military spends it's limited money on buying rather than R&D. This is what was done with IAI Lavi. This is what was done with Avro Canada Arrow.

So if USA pushes too hard then we might get into cornered cat mode, maybe start flying with RD-33s.

As per @Ayan Barat in the Navy thread and as y'all can see they have made this "CRN-91" naval gun by just putting the BMP-2 turret in a can and painting it white, to fire you have to get inside the can and fire like you would for an actual BMP-2 turret




Goras by comparison have such a system, this is Mk 38 by BAE Systems, It's RCWS with manual firing option







This is the Aselsan STOP system by the Turkans



Notice how sleek and purpose built these foreign systems are, while the CRN-91 is the most low-effort job imaginable.

Elbit has a 30mm naval gun RCWS but the only picture i can find similar to GRSE one is this



So therefore these guys cannot just make anything by themselves, need to be ToT spoonfed everything


There is a .50 cal RCWS also used by the IN, and Elbit is the vendor for that too but in ToT form once again

And btw you would be right, considering this is made by ((( The Greatest Ally ))) of the US it is only natural for them to use the Bushmaster rather than the 30mm shipunov

Once again our guys couldn't even integrate the Shipunov built by OFB Medak with Yahoodi turret and electronics just the provided Bushmaster.

Fooking Chings atleast make good mods to the stuff they clone, our guys just don't care to make improvements, the Uniformed "customer" base also doesn't seem to even bother to ask them to do a few mods based on existing hardware

No wonder BDL decided to do ((( ToT ))) with Roos for Pantsir even though we have the components ( Missile, guns, radar, chassis ) to make Pantsir-at-Home
