Based on the article, in my opinion HAL is taking the correct proactive steps re MK1A. I guess public/SM pressure works and now it is DRDO under spotlight for getting indigenous avionics certified ASAP.

Govt should snatch few tejas from HAL & IAF crooks & place them directly under the control of ADA/DRDO.

If they dont place orders today then whatever happens that is EW gets certified or elta is chosen ultimately, it will be late thus resulting delays in delivery of aircraft due to lack of EW suite or radar

If EW gets certified and orders are placed they can only build 10-12 units per year and delivery wont start early too further add time to build capacity
And if elta is chosen then placing orders that is after 6-7 months will also delay the delivery too

Decision needs to be taken within this week or next

Who is responsible is different thing but now we need to find solution

Tejas is a meme project.

PMO/Govt doesn't care.

HAL/ADA/DRDO are either aaram se or fighting each other.

Users have no interest in Tejas and don't want anything else from India so they fire off ASQRs accordingly.

The same pattern will be repeating for MWF and AMCA till some wunderwaffe are imported in small quantities.

imo they should just sell HAL/ADA to some private firm, maybe they can license any developments related to the Tejas ecosystem to interested companies and countries, like how the Israeli radars, EWs, missiles etc have roots in the IAI Lavi project

Designed specially as a point defense against incoming missiles, including supersonic missiles.


Drdo VSHORAD
Range ~6km.
Weight~20kg.
Warhead~2 kg.
Top speed~ mach 1.5
Designed mainly to be used against subsonic targets.

Naval VSHORAD is comparable French naval mistral missile.
But even then mistral has max speed of Mach ~2.7

How is that possible if Astra mk1 with single pulse has 100+ km range.

If he means the practical/tactical range when launched from lower altitude or not high supersonic speed then the same reduced range will also apply to PL-15/PL-15E (particularly affects any solid fueled BVR).
