Where's this getting built at? Their Gujarat plant is still U/C and is an OSAT facility.

ASML is the only company in the world that owns the technology and makes the machinery to make physical chips out of silicon wafers. Chipmakers like TSMC, NVIDIA and Intel won’t be able to make the chips they do without ASML’s EUV technology.
The ZEISS business group develops and produces optics for semiconductor production. Its core business is lithography optics that forms the centerpiece of a wafer scanner.
Are there any plans to manufacture EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet) Lithography systems in India?

Indian company making a sodium battery. Would be nice to know if these are actually operational somewhere, but commendable achievement. ( btw, what happened to the "make in India" and related threads?

ASML is like boeing. P&W+GE is like Carl Zeiss. Before you think about ASML, you need to make those sub components of 100s of suppliers. Before even the sub components game, one needs to master Precision Manufacturing. Not only Precision Manufacturing but also Precision Manufacturing Machinery and Equipment. So it goes on like thisAre there any plans to manufacture EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet) Lithography systems in India?

So basically India won't be atmanirbhar in chip making machines in the next 1 or 2 decades or so. We will have to be dependent on Europeans for high end technology. In future I hope they don't impose sanction against India on human rights, anti conversion etc....ASML is like boeing. P&W+GE is like Carl Zeiss. Level-1: Precision Manufacturing
Level-2: Precision Manufacturing Equipment, Machinery and Tooling
Level-3: Sub-Components
Level-4: Lithography Machine.
Its a colossal task. Look it took the entire 1st world western countries to come together barely had 1 company that making lithography machines. China alone MAY do that but they will always be a generation or two behind ASML and that too if they bypassed traditional methods and resort to their usual copying, espionage and such. China itself has a long way to go. Only three to four countries have the expertise of Level-1 and 2 being Japan, Germany, Swiss(barely), USA. China still needs to prove its mettle in level-1 and 2 to move for next steps. Ofcourse they are making some lithography machines but they are not of the latest generation.
For India, its better to just honestly import these things. We can attempt it when our semiconductors industry matures along with improving of GDP.
Actually there is a difference, if you are talking economics then yes being top line is a necessity to compete and those countries hold the crown but military needs are different and china has more than enough to compete and exceed and so can Russia. India also has very established research in fundamental areas but of course application of it is non-existent even in military capacity. We aren't hopeless. I think this is over simplification of what barriers exist in terms of capabilities. Swiss, German and Japan are all historically very high quality craftsmanship and Indian was too but foreign invasions made sure to kill those capabilities. Research some of our original metallurgy, bamboo craftsmenship and so on. China will take #1 position eventually. At the level they are, law of averages will make sure.So basically India won't be atmanirbhar in chip making machines in the next 1 or 2 decades or so. India will have to shell out more money for R&D.
When India is at utterly zero in Electronics and Semiconductors , the cabal has absolute power to make India dance to its tunes. When India has fairly established Semiconductor Industry, then there isn't much the Cabal can do unlike before. We will continue to bleed but instead of a arm or a leg it would be just a cut or scratch and for the returns its worth it.So basically India won't be atmanirbhar in chip making machines in the next 1 or 2 decades or so.
