We seriously need to stop this open loot of our Names, our India name is property rights for Indians only.
The Pakistanis, Nepalese and Bangladeshis have no right to use India name for their benefits.
If these guys sells stupidity in their restaurants, then customer will blame India country and it's people.
Why Indian government or foreign affairs ministry don't take action on this?
This is serious breach or maybe in Indian government babus are there, who still think this is all good as it is making Pakistanis and others feel inferior, no it is not.
Actually they are making your country name bad, one of the reasons curry and Naan is added to us and over the top spices are added to us.

Well its no surprise that various international organisations have come to use the term "south asia" for anything relating to indian economic growth.Articles about how south asia become the fastest growing region were propagated widely when it was only India that managed stellar growth and provided 90% of growth to south asian economies and in the same articles when it comes to wealth inequality India is the only one to be taken to consideration. Holi becomes a south asian festival. Our food becomes south asian and we are doing ratshit about pushing back against it.

Actually this is a very good idea . Instead of a GI tag , the MEA in association with the Ministry of Culture & Tourism should come out with a ratings system for AUTHENTIC Indian restaurants specialising in Indian cuisine awarding them stars from 1-5.

We should start with the Anglo countries & move onto other European nations. That way we can weed out Paxtanis & Bangladeshis masquerading as Indian restaurants.

How will Paxtan & BD retaliate ? They can't come up with a similar ranking as people walk in to these restaurants expecting to sample Indian fare not Paxtani or BD fare.

Interesting something similar happens here in India where Japanese applied for a GI tag of their traditional Liquor.

But exactly how would this affect the Indian restaurant owners? AFAIK these restaurants are operated by Indian who have been there for generations. Would they be keen on complying with the tag? How would other foreigners Interpret this GI stuff? Will they be able to make the distinction?

There is nothing much Indian foreign affairs can do in these cases. They restaurants are outside Indian boundary. We don't have any control on copyrights outside our borders.

There used to be a Festival of India , GoI launched in the west during Rajiv Gandhi's administration I read once. The aim was to highlight India as a tourist destination.

This has got to as part of a larger program in which AUTHENTIC Indian cuisine is identified & promoted as part of promoting India as a tourism destination .

Encourage Indian hoteliers in these countries to form an association I guess & in collaboration with programs launched by the Indian embassy there certify these places as authentic Indian restaurants offering authentic Indian cuisine.

Record number of journalists killed in Pakistan already this year​

The seventh and most recent victim was ambushed while driving, as most cases were thought likely to be work-related. Kamran Dawar is one of the journalists killed. He died in May in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Seven reporters have been killed in Pakistan in the first six months of 2024, a record annual number with half a year still to go.

The most recent victim was Khalil Jibran, a former president of a local press club in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders Afghanistan. He died in June when the car he was driving was ambushed by two men who dragged him out and shot him multiple times.


Adil Jawad, who works for an organization that investigates journalist killings, said at least four of the seven cases – which involved traditional journalists and citizen reporters – were likely to have been work-related.

Most of the deaths have taken place in smaller towns and cities, where the role of social media in amplifying the profile of professional journalists and giving a platform to citizen reporters has been most keenly felt.

Jawad said the attacks were taking place in the context of “widespread impunity” for perpetrators.

The Freedom Network, which advocates for press freedoms, said 53 journalists were killed because of their work between 2012 and 2022, and that over the same time frame, only two cases resulted in culprits being punished.
