Indian Air Force: News & Discussions

These are in service with SA-3 Pichora squadrons, these vehicles are part of SA-3 Pichora batteries. Kraz- 255 is used to pull launchers of SA-3 Pichora launchers weighing around 13200 kg, AD-100 generator set, guidence radar can split in 2 pieces. Antenna of radar is pulled by YB-600 trailers. Lower part of radar is itself a trailer with wheels , it YB-550 trailer. There are six Kraz-255 per battery, five for permanent use and one stand by. India every Pichora squadron has two batteries and every battery has three launchers. In Russia they used to have four launchers per battery but we purchased only three per battery. Zil-131 carry YNK radar cabin. Radar cabin has panels like GO panel, Battery commander panel etc. GO(guidence officer) panel is called 61 panel, battery commander panel is called 62 panel. Zil TLV vehicle (transport and loading vehicle) has different configurations, it carries missiles and is used as loading and reloading vehicle of missiles on launchers. Per battery two Ural vehicles are used for pulling RKY cabin ( power distribution cabin) and PRM cabin ( secret library consists of publications related to SA-3, technical, operating manual, instructions, diagram manual, combat drill manual, training notes hand written by crews). Kraz-255 carry all accessories of launchers in its trailer. AD-100 generator is pronounced as Ada 100 just like Russians pronounce it, YB-600 is pronounced as ube 600 just like Russians pronounce it, YNK radar cabin is pronounced as uenka cabin just like Russians pronounce it.
One Zil-131 carry P-19 radar cabin and another Zil-131 carry P-19 radar antenna.

There is no sanction. You need to think about REAL BOTTLENECK, if HAL can even deliver two jets per month using those engines from September.
Also Kaveri is going to be fit into Tejas. Contract is already assigned to a consultancy.
What is the highest number of Tejas HAL has ever built in a year - 5? HAL could have the FAL capacity to assemble 5, 50 or 500 a year but without the components and staff to stick those together, it ain't gonna happen. I am extremely sceptical of any plan to triple, quadruple or quintuple production rate from September.

By the way, I thought I read that the delivery schedule was intended to be 8 for financial year 2024-2025, rising to 16 in following financial years. Did I misunderstand?

What consultancy for Kaveri? It would make sense - "We need to finish it but can't, so let's hand it over to someone who can." Why that was not done 15 years ago escapes me. Loss of face could not be stomached? GOI could take millennia to agree to fund it?

Tendor has been awarded. Below is a little earlier news when ADA was searching for consultancy.
.
"However, one of the activities includes the ‘Technical Assistance Towards Kaveri Integration on LCA Tejas,’ the timeline for which is 2 years after signing of contract. "

I wonder what is happening with the MiG-21 still left. I suppose that IAF has spares to keep them operational until a few Mk1A are delivered.

Any guesses when Mk1A with the non-IN20 engines will start being delivered? Will they be usable (I think of the rumoured radar problem)?

Any news on getting hold of more M2K? Any extra M2K, MiG-29 would be useful, wouldn't they, (assuming they are compatible with IAF stock).

What do you expect on Production Line that just recently started for a new Type? Do you churn out a new Fighter type like Chips from day one? This aint WW2 era fighter aircraft. One thing which you could point fingers at it - relying on unreliable western engine , instead of choosing Russian - and building fighter around it like Chinese.

I hope just hope that GOI makes an unwritten procurement rule - to doubt Russians but never trust Ameirkans and its lackeys for defense procurement- if America continues to play shenanigans
