More funding wouldn't have helped as we don't possess the knowledge and technology for metallurgy in after burning turbofan engine.

Instead of directly making Kaveri we should have made smaller turbofan engines and dry variants to gain experience

We do actually for 80-85kn class engine.
There's a reason gtre is demanding to integrate it in a ftb and ordering Godrej to make afterburner section.
Dry kaveri that will go in ghatak, will be the actual whole engine, afterburner is an additional part.

one time we heard India will clinch a deal with GE, another time R&R, after it is PW, now Safran.....

HAL does have collaborated with saffran for "shakti" turboshaft engines used in Dhruv helos & LCH attack choppers . Maybe it's for real this time ?

Ge promised to provide 12 engines this year.
First engine for 83 tejasmk1a order in 2021, just got delivered previous month in 2025.

i was not saying about current situation....i am saying although we hv 16 fighter per year capability to production from 2018-19. air force nd government didnt order 16 tejas mark 1a from first year (2024) in their deal in 2021. they were agre to deliver 8 aircrafts from 2024 from HAL.
so my point with other person was even if we hv capability of making 16-32 aircraft per year....if air force give less order nd dont want to spend more money for fast delivery. we cant utilise full capacity of our production capability.

Russians are better than Americans for transferring strategic technologies case in point SSBM, Cryogenic Engines

Hopefully we get some TOT on AL-51 Hot section and Russian next gen Jammer pods….

You can't scale up production immediately at the start of production run.

Sweden did provide tot for bofors which were ruined by our low merit ordnance factories and bureaucrats.Rajiv gandhi was a salesman for Saab Scania we can get more tech from sweden in radar and anti 5th gen fighter tech which they are doing research.

This too we can do on our own. This is not aerospace space design tech, This is more of software and optics hardware. We have enough experience from our own DEW and other programs, we just need to tweak it a bit. That's my personal opinion, uneducated guess mostly.

No need, we are developing our own.
Under Cats OMCA project, AI pilot is being developed for integration in all future jets.
As for radars, we're good.

There were some leaks India bought R-37M after 2019 saga…

We will forever be engine dependent if we think someone will give it to us no matter how much we pay. People need to understand this. Anything they give us will be outdated or not enough. Developing engine tech is like building your body up. Dont expect some one else to do the workout and you build the muscle.
We put in the hours and effort and rupee into it, we will succeed, we have that capacity, we have shown it with other programs.
No su no rafale no f35 no ge404 or 414 will give you what you actually need

Well be assured our PSUs will never be able to come up with Jet Engines…

Simply because PSUs dont hire based on merit so
somehow getting direct TOT is only way forward in this particular case Russians might be willing because the situation they are in

They arent in any situation that needs engine tot sale. They need $ but they won't sell engine tech to us. There are innumerable ways this deal can be stopped. Like how the cryo engine deal in 90s was suckered. Russia was in difficult situation then too, they could have used the $s then too. Enough actors came into play to scuttle that deal and look where it got us. Time wasted on the deal. Eventually we were forced to develop the engine (i believe based on reverse engineering but not sure). Either way, we did not get the tech the way the deal was supposed to go. Same thing will happen here, no engine tech will come. Dallalis will push for this deal simply for comission, some churan about engine tech will be sold and our babboons and everyone else will buy it, 15 years later no Kaveri because we again put our eggs in the foreign basket (this time russian) so no funds left to push Kaveri development in the scale it needs, amca will get pushed back. Total fuckery.

Edit: even if they give tot psus will not be able to build it if they can't build it on their own. These tot documents don't come in simple instructions, if the psu babus don't have the capability to develop engine on their own they won't be able to put these tot documents to work even if they are agreed to. As someone earlier pointed out - look at bofors guns deal.

Anyway India don’t have any other choice with Chinese deploying stealth assets near Indian borders and potential sale of Stealth to pakis …
India cant wait for AMCA and Kaveri both of which are under PSU(which are definitely not merit based institutions)

SU57 is our only chance to get a plane good enough with frontal stealth to evade radars and fire its payload unlike Rafales which when loaded with weapons will show up on radars
