Indian Air Force: News & Discussions (2 Viewers)

It will take a long time before the M88 T-Rex engine becomes operational.
I think it will have to be ready for F5, ie 2030.
It's not a brand new engine. It's a M88 with new tech as higher turbine temperature.
There were rumors about a 87KN M88 for years (exactly when Rafale was purchased by UAE). The 87KN figure came from the Rafale inlets, designed for 15% more flow than the legacy engine.

Do you really imagine russia (or USA or GB or France) giving you all the source code ???
It is too dangerous for the seller and too precious.
The max possible is creating some special entry in the software so as to easily integrate new weapons and modify some functions. Not more.
And in the opposite case that only means one thing : the source code is or a old one or a lightened one.

Do you remember the mess when some commercial datas about Scorpene were realeased (by TKMS) ???
Russia won’t share source codes with Israel, but with India, this has never been an issue. All Russian platforms have integrated smoothly into India’s network-centric warfare ecosystem. In fact, India routinely replaces Russian avionics with indigenous systems—Su-30MKI will retain its Russian airframe and AL-31FP engines but, nearly all other systems will be Indian. India has even indigenized several components of the AL-31 engine itself to enhance thrust and extend service life. Indian military-industrial complex is deeply familiar with Russian hardware, and modifying or upgrading it has never posed a challenge for India.

That's absolutely dont mean that you have the russian codes.
Replacing a screen panel is easier than adding a mode in an electronic jamming pod.
Adding a short range missile, without data link is easier than integrate a medium range one, with data link.

Your MKI remains mainly russians.
Your MKI don't have sensor fusion, so easier for exemple to replace the radar with UTTAM than if it was linked with optronic and electronic jamming systems. And this replacement is on the agenda, but not made.

The mission computer of Su-30MKI has been Indian from the very beginning, and even several components of the airframe and engine are of Indian origin. India has the capability to build an improved version of Su-30MKI from scratch but chooses not to, out of respect for the intellectual property rights of the original Russian manufacturer.

Froggies must be asked by govt whether they are willing to sell us the M88 T-REX engine and can it be fitted in existing rafales.

This is a 90kn engine, could possibly be a replacement for the ((( GE F414 ))) that Americans will surely make us do mujra over

Well well well... something definitely is going on that front. It's either that or saffran is trying to sweeten the Rafale + AMCA engine deal..

It's carrots being dangled

The fuselage being made by TASL is the largest sweet Punjabi gajar halwa carrot
The Falcon 2000 FAL by Reliance in Nagpur is a chinese carrot
and this is another Chinese carrot

Or we have some 56" chested chad babooze working in the MoD, they have asked the Froggies for all these thinks before a contract gets inked, knowing how slippery and slimey the Froggies are even about contractual obligations.

Indian Air Force : A cut above is good game and currently it isn't having active players

It's shows it needs 7 players to start a Team Battle match

humm....
1) about the mission computer : you came with your soft, so it was not open to you by russia as russia didn't deliver it.
2) An improverd version of Su : OK, but when we see how late are tejas, tejas 2, Kaveri, it was probably a good decision not

Is this official game from IAF? Like the 'Guardians of the Skies' which came like a decade back and never updated?

Edit:
Just checked, this came back in 2019. is it updated regularly?

We need to run a torus right into it and call it "accident" then send the parts to ADA :troll:

F35 is a support based jet for usa and allies real superiority jets are f35 and f15s hence usa is going for f47 as f35 has a lot of issues.

This thing seems to have Jaguar level crash rate given how it is almost always in the news. Maybe they shouldn't have gone for an everything VTOL single-engine stealth fighter cheaper than F-22.

It's complex and high maintenance by design to make more $$$$ for LM and for US to exact tighter control on all it's vassals.

India manufactures Su-30MKI domestically from scratch, but it still pays royalties to Russia for the intellectual property rights. The Indian-made Su-30MKI is significantly different from the original Russian version. The upcoming batch of 12 ‘Super Sukhoi’ aircraft will be equipped with the indigenous UTTAM AESA radar, and the existing Su-30MKI fleet will also be upgraded with this radar. UTTAM is a GaN-based AESA radar, which offers superior power efficiency, extended range, and better target acquisition compared to the GaAs radar currently used in the Rafale. India had considered integrating the UTTAM radar into the Rafale as well, but the plan was eventually shelved due to high integration costs and potential delays.

According to publicly available data, Rafale costs nearly three times more than F-35 in terms of unit price.

the overall cost of operating F-35 may rise due to the ecosystem and infrastructure it requires, it would still likely remain lower than the total cost of Rafale.

And, Rafale also needs to be integrated into India’s defense ecosystem, which involves additional expenses. From an Indian perspective—especially considering the high price India pays for the Rafale—F-35 cannot be considered an expensive aircraft.

BrahMos-2 hypersonic cruise missile costs around $12.5 million per unit, suitable for high-value targets like enemy airbases, warships, or air defense systems, it’s not cost-effective for destroying rag tag militias. What India needs is the GHATAK UCAV, which can conduct precision bombing missions against militant infrastructure in Pakistan—similar to how U.S. has effectively used Predator drones to eliminate militant targets in the region.

Also, GHATAK UCAV is powered by indigenously developed Kaveri engine, which eliminates any concerns about American sanctions or foreign dependencies for these unmanned combat aircraft.
