I don't think we know how retirement will work out for IT industry since most who had joined the wave haven't retired or are on the verge of retiring besides the one who have already taken early retired

Correct. It depends on the industry.

This doesn't apply to industries like Infra and Construction. Have 2 very close family members in L&T and both are in their late 50's and their top bosses are actually asking them to postpone their retirement.

Most private companies set the retirement age between 58 and 65 years, with 60 being the most prevalent.

I had a very senior boss who was still working at 74 because he was so knowledgeable about refinery, gas piping, and pipeline designs that the company asked him to stay instead of retiring. However, these kinds of people are exceptions, not the norm.

I’ve seen many in their 40s and 50s forced to work for reduced pay or relegated to less relevant departments, or fired outright.

The ranking is mostly based on share of international students.
Our top institutions have 50 percent reservation already and it becomes impossible for any foreign students to get in.

If we give 50 percent reservation to foreign students who are top scorers then our institutes will easily be in top 50

As long as our higher education institutions remain competitive exam and campus placement-focused instead of focusing on research,it will never break into IVY league rankings.

Nobody in the world cares if you secured rank 1 in JEE Advanced or secured a 1 crore package with Microsoft. The world cares if your university has done some path breaking research on Cancer or Alzheimer’s/Dementia or build a revolutionary AI program.

background is that, up until a few years ago, what used to happen was, GoI used to try to sneak in their talking points in events organised by other countries, which was not translating into effective communication because organisers and discussion moderators will have their own agendas often not in our favour. so GoI started funding own events, so that they control both the questions and answers. IGF is part of this policy.

this point goyal made at IGF london event is an extension of a western requirement which came about after chini pandemic, to diversify supply chains from china.

Its almost like they guy is trying to make you start a business and buy his courses lol. The problem with these type of statements is if you're simply a middle manager yeah you will be laid off or retired because you're easily replaceable.

Having domain knowledge means you can't be easily removed. Most of the Indian employees at this age are just trying to increase their headcount so why shouldn't companies lay these people off. Most of the managers I have worked with are useless and are just annoying to deal with

So what ? First Chinese Universities to ever entered in top 100 was Tshinghua and Peking in 2010s when their GDP per capita was way higher than our current.

Actually we can have robust R&D infra with middle class population chasing money, issue with research in India is, there aren't enough researchers in relevant fields , mainly because we haven't yet started seriously investing academic research infrastructure, there are very few institutions that actually have bare minimum capacity to conduct research, even some tier-3 colleges in places like EU and USA have better research infra than 95% of our colleges. Research isn't done by like 5-10 super genius in a particular filed , but rather its built upon minor experiments and discoveries done by your above avg students.
