Those companies need to be fined in treble damages as a message.

India has been kept in yellow category - which means cutting edge AI chips shall be denied to India. Its same 80's aka CrayX saga. Time for CDAC, IIT's to shape up and meet challenge once again. While Indian Govt must reciprocate with strict Data localization laws.

Not all individual components are made in India or can be made in India. We have to procure them from several suppliers around the world (mostly from South-East/East Asia).
Just be upfront about the components that are imported and what stuff is made in house.​

It's not even like they got the li-on cells from ching chong, then assembled it into plastic case in their indian factory or anything

If there is a pressing requirement then the chips can be smuggled into the country, that's what Chinese do, even for them not everything can be indegenized at the cutting edge

What makes you think India has not done before. India got microcontrollers in 90s-2000s apparently this way.

but I think current set of Govts especially post liberalization are too cautious too deal with US. Check how every official in govt went to please US accusations. I mean US supplied timers , weapons and interferes openly in our democracy yet we have not been able to call spade a spade.

Why is our industrialists and Babooze to politicians have put their future eggs/hatchlings in Western countries? Seriousness about country starts decreasing as you go from top to bottom in Country.

The Cell phone batteries are not like your EV batteries made by assembling the cylindrical Li-ion cells. These are sheet-based batteries in compact form. It is almost impossible currently to make them inhouse and have to procure from established vendors. These companies do not need to claim made in India for such products at all. They are trying to fool the babus and get the tax benefits or the incentives by claiming high content of Indian made components.​
