Indian Navy Developments & Discussions

All i am willing to say is this:

we deployed 11 warships to the region when the houthis began hitting commercial warships.

US CentCOM has openly acknowledged Indian warhips, and their contribution.
"Unnamed allied navies have shot down a number of drones"

There is definitely some number of drones that were shot down by our ships. Exactly which ships and how many drones the IN wont say, nor does it feel required. Suffice to say we have now gained some extremely valuable experience in countering modern air threats.

Pirate skiff almost definitely.
Thanks

Is this for 17B ? If it is for 17A/Talwar I'm pretty sure the contract for MF STAR would have been inked before keel laying of the first ship, so when exactly did it enter the -ve import list ? If it is after, this piece of news should be called out for randi rona.
Edit : So the list excluding MF STAR was in 2022.
@Adm_Kenobi
Kindly clean up your fake news.

Does anyone actually know how these kickbacks are cashed out.
Or is it just a buzz word we have created.
Your telling me India's security apparatus does not monitor illegal dealings between officers of our armed forces and suppliers?
few case ive heard is foreign trips , luxury homes , money (swiss bank)

there might be 100 other ways ive seen corruption in ways i couldnt imagine (RTO ki jai ho)
money is the primary thing if you secure it saving it in india has ways

I am not talking about P17A or the new Talwar, I clearly remember typing *P17*, not A.
MF-STAR for P17A is fine by me, no problem. The 2 new Talwar will not feature MF-STAR.

The problem is with trying to bypass the -ve import list through license production. BEL expects the order for MF-STAR + MRSAM for *P17* and Talwar (old) in *FY26*, and an order of the same for NGC soon thereafter. This should not be the case when we already have the capability to develop and produce good S-band radars (Arudhra) on our own. It is not hard to fit Arudhra on a ship, it can track the targets in 4 ways compared to the 3 of MF-STAR, providing a better firing solution.

2258 Alpha is a tiny radar, single-panel rotating array, not fit for a ship the size of P17 & NGC. It isn't even about the capability, it is about paying royalties for things we can already produce on our own.

The new Arudhra was slated to go on on the last P16A class after conversion to diesel as a test and trials ship.

That was what i had heard and read a year or so ago, dont know the status of said project - as I recall power requirement and fittment studies had been completed.

That is good news, NGC design is still not finished yet, I hope they change the preference to an indigenous radar instead of a license-produced one. NGC and P17 deserve better, they deserve an Indian radar.

Apologies, I had no idea that the shivalik class was up for an upgrade. I just assumed that it was for the 17A.

Like mentioned, foreign trips , luxury homes , money (swiss bank), thats mostly for the armed forces officers. The ruling party gets a chunk for their political campaigns and other expenses, and so on.
Overall, the armed forces win - they get a decent product (even with the kickbacks they try and make sure they dont get anything substandard), Military generals are happy with their shares, the ruling party and other babus are happy with their shares.
The only thing that suffers is India's defence industry. May sound to be the "only thing", but this "only thing" will bite very hard when there is actual war and Israel suddenly decides to stop giving India the radars or quotes exorbitantly high prices for them.
GE404 engine story anyone?
