Indian Navy Developments & Discussions

AD-1 and AD-2 will not be available fleet wide. They will most probably be used only by the NGD for the BMD role.
Yes, I know and I'm arguing that it shouldn't be necessary since the much smaller Baraks can do the job as well (or at least they are supposed to), which can be carried in much larger quantities in a given square meter of space. Plus, when you consider the fact that the AD-1 and 2 series missiles won't likely be any cheaper, it just becomes a no brainer.

I don't know why but I believe that IN will go with LRSAM + MRSAM on its PSCs instead of MRSAM + VL-SRSAM.

Thanks, just one final quarry and then I'll be on my way - why do we need ship based BMD systems when we do not face any nuclear threat from across the pond??
As others have pointed out anti ship ballistic missiles are a threat .
But consider this, the straight line path from balochistan (where the pakis base their nuclear missiles) to peninsular India (where a lot of our economic centers are ) is over the ocean . A sea based anti ballistic defence wound cover the entire (rich) konkan coast + pune ,blore ,mangalore and to an extent Hyderabad .

The Dhanush is now relegated to missile firing for interceptor testing. But when it first debuted it struck fear in the hearts of pakistanis

That's good... If its ballistics are so simple that it can be used as a target for our BMD then we don't want to use it against enemy fleet ships.

Why have we reduced the number from 123 to 66 for medium lift helicopters?
The same can be seen in case of light utility helicopters - requirement was of 111 but AOn only for 60 UHM.
There have been media reports that IN plans to buy 60 UHM and "Light Utility Helicopters (LUH) modified for ship-based operations".
The reduction in NMRH could be due to IN hoping to place another order of MH-60R before DBMRH is operational in the 30s.

could be just for representation purposes, GRSE has been involved in some recent ToT with the industry for CRN-91.

It's all good and all but isn't the top speed of 25 knots an hour a tad too low for an anti-sub craft?? @Binayak95
No, these will usually operate at even lower speeds while hunting/looking for submarines.
