A serious matter of concern, BHEL needs to expand its production capacity to support the construction of new hulls. 32-33 new ships will require SRGM in the next ~10 years.

6 NGMV, 11 NGOPV, 8 NGC, 7-8 P-17A
Not including -
3 CTS, 2+2 MPV, possibility or SRGM on 6+6 ICG NGOPV.

It's time for us to look for another vendor for SRGM.

Deal for 16 additional 76mm guns wa signed on 28th November 23. It is possible that additional fresh deliveries of SRGM haven't started yet for P 17A.

The Ministry of Defence concluded a crucial agreement with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) in Haridwar, marking the procurement of 16 Upgraded Super Rapid Gun Mounts (SRGM) and associated equipment for the Indian Navy, on Tuesday November 28. Valued at ₹2956.89 Cr under the Buy (Indian) category, this contract signifies a strategic move to bolster the nation's maritime defence capabilities.

However Talwar Class Batch III (Triput Class) had ordered SRGM in 2021 itself.

In a major boost to Defence Production under the ‘Make in India’ initiative and towards achieving self-reliance in the critical field of Defence equipment, Goa Shipyard has placed a maiden order on Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) for supply of an upgraded Super Rapid Gun Mount (SRGM), the Main gun onboard most Warships of the Indian Navy.

The order envisages supply, installation and commissioning of the entire system – Upgraded SRGM and accessories for Triput Class Frigates of the Indian Navy, which will be manufactured by the Haridwar unit of BHEL.

Sir can anyone clear the confusion of 2 antennaes
1) with tot from Japan
And the
2) devloped indegenously till the one from Japan is available
Won't it be better to upgrade indegenous one so that we can have our own technology
Pls explain in layman terms

1.2 billion per ship??!! That's gotta be overpriced for what we'll be getting.
Are they still gonna say "Muh R&D budget" ? What exactly is causing so much wastage? Is it inefficiency of PSU Shipyards or Imported Gold Plated Content?

Guys we will get a lot of indigenous sub systems here like lrmfr new missiles sensors etc
All are indigenous and first of all first time being produced so u need to pay for them to establish manufacturing plant and logistics for the sub-system as being manufactured and ordered first time
U can't see a vessel like a single unit

And moreover u guys are following these topics for many years u must know AoN generally comes with all considerations so the cost quoted is high
Wait for dac approval after completion of rfp stage and then ccs then u will know the exact cost

In Nilgiri Class, the imported and semi-imported contents(licensed manufacturing/joint venture) are
1. MFSTAR
2. L-Band Radar
3. Barak-8
4. Brahmos
5. OTO 76mm Gun
6. AK-630M.
So in the latter 4 case, even with screw driver giri like OTO or importing sub components like Brahmos or Barak-8, we are paying too much money as hafta. What are they gonna replace these with?
Its actually fine even if we pay 2B$ for one ship if all components are indigenous as majority of the money stays in India but here is not the case.
