Indian Navy Developments & Discussions

DRDO and Indian Navy should develop Optical dazzler system for Indian frigates and destroyers similar to Lockheed Martin's HELIOS. It is believed that the 60-120 kW versions of the laser will be capable to take down anti-ship cruise missiles.

It is hard to develop a ship-based DEW because of the platform-created disturbances.
The one on Jalashwa was just a 2kW TD, not enough to be weaponised. Even CHESS' 10kW DEW has a range of just 2km, that's for low-end threats like small UAVs.
Development work has already started by CHESS to make a new one (power unknown) for the "naval platform".

It is best if we replace Barak-8 MRSAM in the upcoming projects like P-17B & NGD with PG-LRSAM' second stage. It is only a bit larger than MRSAM but will feature much more fuel because of miniaturised electronics, a much better seeker, a larger warhead, and most importantly, less dependence on foreign countries.
Gone are the days when Israeli electronics were decades ahead of Indian ones. The advancement in seeker alone is enough to ditch Barak-8 MRSAM.

Oh entirely agreed. The Jalashwa TD was good enough to fry quadcopters' batteries.

The LM2500 + Diesel combo is just not powerful enough. We will see DEWs on the IEP P18s

Would pump jets be used with the P-76 submarines since they are less efficient than the normal screw type propellers and conventional submarines doesnt have the unlimited fuel boon (which the nuclear subs has)

I have this thought going through, that i would like to present for discussion.
We all know the Navy's love for RBU-6000 aka ASW Rocket launcher, those launchers automatically load and launch as far as I know. My question is can they be adapted to launch SAMs like very short range SAMs being developed by DRDO. By that navy can use those launchers in ASW and Surface to Air roles. And I think they can be shaped to be stealthy.
