We don't have CIWS capable chemical lasers in the pipeline.Remove that RBU and install a AA Gun/Laser like Rheinmetall Oerlikon.

Here is how I think a Chinese intervention in the IOR will take place.
- The Chinese reaching the Malacca Straits can happen only when they have broken the island chain and defeated the JSDF Navy, US Navy and ROK Navy (3 x the current size of the PLAN) leaving a battered PLAN.
- The Chinese will then use armed merchant vessels to strike at US Navy, Indian Navy and Royal Australian Navy assets before moving in their main fleet.

- PLAN submarines will then be deployed to mop up any survivors and initial QRTs and responders. Indian Navy has been anticipating this and investing in MQ-9s, ASW-SWC and Kamorta Class for this very reason.
- PLAN will then bring forth it's 'hedgehogs' like Type 055, Type 052D and use them to lock down the Malacca Straits for area denial and anti access.
- Then depending on the beating belted out to the PLAN in the Taiwan fight, 1-2 CBG will be deployed and then used to launch strikes against Andaman and Nicobar and the Eastern Seaboard.
I understand that corvettes have their uses like armed OPVs during peacetime and hit and run attacks against PLAN, PN however using a NGMV against the 'hedgehogs' is the equivalent of using these guys to fight a 26/11 style attack.
tried to fix the blurry aft partJust a sec, gotta change my undies...
Ok, where were we....?
Yes.
Shivalik was "clean", they kinda moved away from cleanliness . Should've been like this... Hope P-17B is.
NGD maybe, the NGC also looked pretty "clean" although far too much like we've directly copied China's Type-56 Corvettes.

Sadly NGMV isn't so.

It should be this, by all reasons as stealthy as possible because it's small & can actually be LO... Also it's pretty fucked if detected with it's protection level. It's sole USP should be low-observability!
Just use our OPVs & make the stealthy, then add some VLS, it will kill frigates.
Because while we're playing meeting-meeting Chinks are gonna replace their 50 Corvettes with the new one.View attachment 21941
Remove that RBU and install a AA Gun/Laser like Rheinmetall Oerlikon.
The Nilgiri is the lead ship of the Navy’s seven new stealth frigates under Project 17A. It is considered to be a major advancement over the Shivalik-class frigates and incorporates elements such as an enclosed mooring deck, a low infrared signature, a deck rail system for the safe movement of crew and material that has enabled the removal of guardrails, among others, to boost the warship’s stealth features.
Speaking to ThePrint, Kapoor said, “In other ships, you will find there are a lot of fittings on the foxle, like anchors, chain cables etc. But here it is a clean deck. Everything has shifted to one deck below, onto the mooring deck that is completely concealed. This has ensured better radar suppression of the ship, and therefore, our stealth care design.”
He further said that Nilgiri’s Infra-Red Suppression System reduces emissions from the ship’s propulsion exhaust and power generation machinery, reducing the chances of any radars detecting the ship.
The commanding officer also demonstrated how the deck rail system of the Nilgiri works. Crew and materials can be latched to the deck rails with safety harnesses for any movement on the deck.
“The Nilgiri also has a Super Rapid Gun Mount (Upgraded) system, which has been used for the very first time in the Indian Navy. The gun is capable of firing smart ammunition, which is GP-guided, it can be guided by a laser also. It has given us enhanced ranges, more lethality and more accuracy,” Kapoor said.
“There were challenges in building Nilgiri, as it involved a lot of new equipment and new technology. But we have built a ship that is fully combat ready, and this will now become a standard fit for the Navy.”
DFB nibbiar challenge
If you were allowed to, what all would you fit on the bow for armament?
You have to keep the RBUs, but you can move it to the back or front whatever.
Just how much can we missile-max with the khali-sthan on the ship?
24x brahmos with 48 Barak8s?
EXISTENTIAL DREAD!!A nice serene sunset, the faint rays of sun touch your face one last time before they vanish behind that endless horizon, the vast ocean making you realise what more is your existing than a mere spec of dust, your whole life flashes by your eyes, that breathtakingly pretty girl you once saw in your college, this job, the family back at home...you contemplate everything while standing on top of 300kg of pure high explosive, 2t worth of kerosene and few hundred kilos of solid rocket fuel.
You ask one last time; what was your existence?

For me, it's a steady supply of pork/ mutton. My 2 cents for Surat:
There are 70 ways to keep a man happy: 1 is alcohol rest is D69
Not enough, for a DDG of this size. And Barak-8s can always be replaced with something else but we need more VLS than this.Nothing too outlandish, because missiles are costly as fuck & Nirmala-ji is already fucking me at 30% & I don't wanna be fucked more. Just proportionate number of AShM & SSM (ideally some Nirbhay derivative) VLS... for Destroyer I'd have added AShBM & AAD silos too.
And a 33% increase in the SAM-UVLS, should house both LR-SAM & SR-SAM as required.

There's are 2 more SAMs VLS in the rear, that also becomes 3.Not enough, for a DDG of this size. And Barak-8s can always be replaced with something else but we need more VLS than this.
I know but why restrict ourselves with just 48 when we have got such a sleek little missile?? Just make a version of Barak-8 with all Indian components and name it something like Akash-3 or whatever. There's are 2 more SAMs VLS in the rear, that also becomes 3.
It's 32 currently, to become 48.
In a first, Indian Navy commissions 3 warships together. What makes Nilgiri, Surat & Vaghsheer unique
The ships were built with 75% indigenous materials & collaborations with global manufacturers. INS Nilgiri, INS Surat & INS Vaghsheer were commissioned Wednesday in the presence of PM Modi.theprint.in
Patrakar gives some details about INS Nilgiri straight from it's captain.
The Captain says that the ship is supposed to be guard-rail-mukt so as to stealth-maxxx, but as the pictures we have seen show there are still guard-rails?
Perhaps they are not confident of the "deck-rail system" and need to still test it out further?
DBFers, before you keep going on for more missiles, let us ask the question of how many times do we really fire those high priced missiles and how long those missiles last when the ships go out on sea. If they are really expensive and we are mostly in peace time, there is no way in hell that MoD would authorize a huge purchase of missiles of the majority of them goes unused. What I suspect is that the IN has created the space for more missiles and are working on an in ship reloading VLS capability so you really don't need to create more VLS space on deck. Just create the space for more magazines and be able to reload those missiles into the VLS space as needed. That way IN during peacetime do not need to carry a large contingent of missiles out to sea and blowing up the IN's budget.
Doesn't meet their requirement. Why navy not supporting NLCA??
In Navies, one of biggest issues is lack of space. Why navy not supporting NLCA??
Single Engine, limitations on weapons it can carry. Had we a catapult on Carrier - NLCA would have been able to carry some more ordinance. Also NLCA is overweight wrt Tejas. So it makes sense to use NLCA as prolly trainer which navy might use it as.Why navy not supporting NLCA??
I know but why restrict ourselves with just 48 when we have got such a sleek little missile?? Just make a version of Barak-8 with all Indian components and name it something like Akash-3 or whatever.

For e.g this is the Anglo Type 26 frigate, 48x SAMs( VLS is of 6 cells ) and 24x VLS that they will use for asroc or land attack missiles.
Ehh meaningless to try without UVLS. And this is not up to scale either. VLS stolen from 055 class, cell sizes adjusted to roughly mimic the max size of cells.
