coming to this incident :
-the content these fellows were creating, is for a foreign origin social media company.
-these social media companies monetise content and views, directly or indirectly
-the format of that show itself is of foreign origin
-the place this show was recorded, was in a studio in mumbai. so this was a commercial activity.
-the "joke" itself is a copy from an australian comedy show, so no marks for creativity there.
-these fellows literally call themselves "influencers".
-ruling parties in this country always acted on their party's votebase's demands.

and this was a first controversy after USAID got whacked, what i am noticing is silence from certain quarters which would otherwise made a lot of noise even 5-10 years back. atleast i am not hearing the words "fascism" "freedom of speech" "regressive culture" "hindutva" blah blah in high decibels.

I have a different take on this.

There is no true democracy in any country. In fact the concept of democracy itself is a fraud concept. we don't really rule our self.
What we have is the best of the worst of the only options available.

And in this set up, we don't want any one branch having absolute power.
