Indian Small Arms and Weapons

U know what , i am happy for this

Maybe sig will use their lobby to sell us their LPVOs too
Not happening if they wanted they would’ve done it already

Infantry is getting EOTech Hybrid sights (HWS + Magnifier).

NSG, SG, GARUD's and Navy SF got LVPOs AFAIK
The EOTech hybrid you are talking about is not even standard it’s under unit purchases we are seeing units buy the most they can from the peanut budget rest are raw dogging it with irons 🤷🏻‍♂️also you rarely see magnifiers mostly it’s just holos.

Needs a new muzzle brake to reduce recoil.
Well if we go by needs then it immediately needs atleast drop free magazine, AR-10 mag compatibility, bolt hold open, ambidextrous selector, forward assist, full length M-Lok free float handguard, better ergonomics on stock and grip, adjustable gas block for suppressor and better muzzle device just to qualify as a good post-2015 assault rifle.

And if we want some good foreign orders; not like few pieces to Nepal and few more to Armenia then even these won't be enough to beat the competition.

ABSOLUTELY!

And none of these will happen unless the user asks for them. The CRPF sure as hell won't. Army wants finished product with zero inputs shared, and PSU babus don't take initiative unless specified with crayons.

Can anyone genuinely explain why are we giving repeat orders for it when IRRPL is set to deliver 20k ak 203 by dec and seems like on track for delivery?
Iam not even blackpilling this time this repeat order makes no sense in any situation.

5.56x45mm - Injure not kill
7.62x39mm - Kill but only CQB
7.62x51mm - To kill long range

Hope this helps you

Because we are busy playing appeasement on both sides. Foreign policy directly affecting weapons purchases. We have the means to modernize the AK platform and re-chamber into any round. The AK-203 deal is a pointless acquisition. The Di Sigs on the other hand are actually useful and fill a capability gap, thus repeat orders.

Sounds right theoretically but not practically
5.56x45mm- Army has literally rejected it
7.62x39mm-our standard no problem with that it has range and punch to kill ,enough during wartime for an average troop
7.62x51mm-long range sounds good but they are equipping it with holos and magnifiers how will they use it for DMR then?

Yet special forces continue to use 5.56 without issues. We needed better high velocity ammo, not replace the caliber outright for grunts. 7.62x39 is only good for soft targets after 150 meters and every rat in the valley now wears lvl 3 plates with kevlar lining. The Sigs are being treated how FAL/SLRs were treated. DMR duties were an afterthought hence most rifles were not issued with high power variable optics. A decision which will lead to men carrying less magazines and less ammo outright.

It was sarcasm based on the weird reasoning given each time.

A heavier weight 5.56x45mm is capable of killing anything let alone using specialized loading like expanding or fragmentation round for CI-CT ops where you need to kill instantly. 5.56x45mm is showing its true capability in Ukr-Rus conflict where one of the biggest need is to carry as much round as possible. Also whatever threat modern body armour presents can be countered with AP rounds.

7.62x39mm caliber is a useless rounds because of the extreme drop it suffers. It's considered obsolete by the very country that designed it.

7.62x51mm is justified because the engagement range goes well beyond that of 5.56x45mm in the Easter theaters where you have flats with no cover and possibilities of ridgeline to ridgeline combat.
Also having 7.62x51mm rifles are kind of good as now you've ammunition compatibility with your Negev machine gun and sniper/DMRs.
