Indian Special Forces

are their any recently converted Airborne units which have proven to be good, save for 7 Para, where Col Shivender should be given huge credit.

What i said in my post earlier that terrorists know about CO and Coy commanders in 90s really well.

My dad was in 31RR (Parent unit - 4 JAKRIF) during these times. These times were wild however their fighting style was quite different from the ones we are facing right now. Fidayeens (Suicide attackers) high on drugs were common back then and the Squads of terrorists used to hold ground instead of running. Cordons were battalion sized, firepower unleashed by both the sides was war like. The best piece of tech was a Bel NVG with the section scout and the section commander or sometimes occassionally a HHTI, Intrasquad comms was non existent, Intersquad one was dealt by a RO of the Officer. Commando ops were low-key while infantry ops brought hell on earth. Let's shift this convo to the proper thread boss !

Taking CI operations in consideration, late 90s 3 para kumaon and 4 para were next level. 6 and 5 were decent. Later on 23 and 29 were brought into para regiment on the basis of their combat records as Inf battalions. 7 para was at par with SF battalions during Col sahb's tenure in terms of PPE, cqb trg and all

If we had any ounce of self respect our SOFs would be training to do cross border raids and routinely hitting Jihadi camps daily. They have the capabilities but they are being misused entirely.

Had we been bankrupt and had Pakis had a good economy?

What would be happening right now?

Read a book by a vet from the 71 war era.

Very impressed. Routinely highlighted the importance of drills, training as well as courage. Technically sharp as well.

Brig Jasbir Singh, SM. Rest in Peace. An officer of class.
