His career in SF ended due to a parachute malfunction. Parachutes have shelf life, sometimes MoD doesn't clear parachute purchases stating that "aapke paas hai toh sahi aur kitne chaiye". Situation has changed for good now but it took lots of accidents and even fatalities.
