Deployment in field

Classic recent case is Negev..think about when it was inducted and when we finally got to see it in combat.

Its not Ukraine.

You will soon see Marcos and Garuds deploy these things in Kashmir.

These are pre COVID era photos, likely 2018-19. Marcos have largely modernized after 2021
Upar wala pic covid era ka hai
Niche wala hi cut helmet wala 2-3 saal phle ka hai
Or ye pic mordenisation k bad ka haiIMG_20240912_152020.webp Marcos ka gear kashmir me bhi evolve ho rha hai par Marcos phir bhi rimpac level ka gear kashmir me use nhi karte during ops
Maybe future me dikh jayega

What is your ideal setup for an op?

Whats the perfect kit? Or rather what is a good kit?
Well as you already know that loadout depends on the type of mission. But taking the pic of that PARA SF operator from a CI/CT Op as context, here's my idle loadout for CICT Ops deep in the forests of Doda:
  1. An Ballistic Helmet(preferably the Viper P2s now renamed P3 or P4 in both Full Cut or High Cut config).
  2. A good unit tailor made PC(like MARCOs used to operate in before CRYE and AT PCs came in) instead of that cheap plate carrier with loadvest on top.
  3. Standard camo with integrated knee-elbow pads.
  4. Weapons, now comes the interesting part! Taking Alpha Squad as a standard six men squad of PARA SF for example, they should have:
- A Squad Cdr with M4 or Tar-21 FT + Mepro MOR Pro RS, MX3T/F magnifier, Suppressor and a Bipod
- Squad 2IC with M4 or Tar-21 + Mepro MOR Pro RS and a UBGL
- Alpha-03 with Tar-21 FT + Mepro MOR PRO RS
- Alpha-04 with Tar-21 FT + Mepro MOR PRO RS
- Marksman with Sig-716i with Bipod, LAM and a LPVO
- Squad LMG guy with Negev NG-7 with TI Sight

5. Now coming on comms, ideally every operative should have a RF-7800S SPR but Motorola Advance Combat Radios will work just fine, but the Squad Cdr should be having a RF-7850 HH coupled with Motorola or RF-7800S SPR.
6. Everyone in the Squad should be having a TI Sight or a NVS.

This is what I consider a perfect kit for CI-CT ops deep in the jungle. Baaki toh exercise me show-off krne ke liye Quads or Exo-Skeleton bhi lgaa lo...

Sup Brothers its been a while.........was a bit busy due my NDA prep.

I have noticed something..MARCOS can be seen using UPC in photo ops, but during real ops they can be seen rocking Multicam quite actively...

Take this op as a reference:
UPC for photos
Multicam for actual op.

All above pics are from same op.

Same goes for M.V. Ruen op..

Couple of questions to understand this better:

1. Why Viper P2 & not Team Wendy
2. Why not AT SF Rig with back plate removed
3. Do we have magnifiers for FTs/M4s
4. Why NG 7 and not Pika
5. Does para use 716s in that config with LAM & LPVOs

+you missed invisio/silynx in ear headsets;)

Agree with him on the Agniveer point, useless and crappy scheme regardless of how many pros the leadership counts to us...

But I disagree wholeheartedly on comparing equipment of MARCOs from RIMPAC and then of PARA SF during actual Ops!
His statement on calibre and not using optics for a 7.62 is also true.

It was a very good and daring interview you have to agree.

Agniveer is a good scheme, although it does need fine tuning, which will happen with time.

1) One thing Maj Sahani missed is - how pathetic the academic standards are at NDA, with physical ragda being the order of the day, with him being a prime example.

2) Maj Sahni, at least on Agniveer, started by making sadak chaap comments, needlessly bringing in CISF. I could dissect, counter his comments on Agniveer easily.. but the larger point is - even Maj Sahni is thinking himself as a know-all.. he wants changes in the army, but when those changes are made he acts like a fish out of water.

3) What is worrisome is that we are spending so much money on training the likes of maj sahani, putting them through 4 yrs of education, just for them to make ill-thought out comments.
For all we know, Agniveer might just be a cog in the wheel of larger changes, to be brought in for the entire security apparatus of the country.

Does maj sahani know that in the past colour service was only 7 yrs long ?

4) Maj Sahni should henceforth stick to tactical level, where is at least correct.. I 100% agree to what he said about our SF, Para regiment..but Agniveer is beyond his paygrade, at least judging by the way he spoke about it,
no comprehension at all.. making army guinea pig, bla bla,, aapne cisf may kyu ni reform kia,, bla blah blah... arrey uncle cisf airports guard karti hai.. borders nahi.. cisf may 60 tak service karo aaram se.. army may nahi, cisf has contributory pension, not defined pension, agniveers could be absorbed in cisf after army, a win-win for all.. par nahi hum nda ki patti parade se zyaada akkal ni chalayenge.

I can go on and on, but maj sahni proved beyond any doubt that he can't see the larger picture,

agniveer ki bhasha aisi ho toh usey g hi marvani chahiye, sena join ni karni chahiye.

army pension banane ki machine nahi hai, jisey 18 ki age may join karo aur 15 saal service karke chhod do.

benefits of agniveer are many, & it would take some time for all to see these benefits.

Army is not some employment generation program
We have requirements and we have to satisfy it

I get your point but I think the primary point is the availability of quality gear for the operators. MARCOS have all the best available to them. And that gear has been spotted in Kashmir as well. From Binods, to high cuts to proper PCs and everything. Moreover, MARCOS' main theatre of operations is maritime. And over the last year, they have done a lot of great ops and in all of these ops, MARCOS has been seen equipped very well (minus some real Gucci stuff like Comtacs). The same can't be said about Para SF in their primary theatre of ops. Almost all photos of paras from operational areas have been underwhelming expect for a few recent ops over the last 2-3 years.
Additionally, Paras have never been able hold a candle to the partner forces that they train with in terms of gear. Even the freaking Egyptians and Kyrgyz are better equipped.
So yeah, Maj Avinash is spot on. There's no comparison between Paras and MARCOS gear. Be it ops or exercises.

More worryingly, he brought up the point of inadequate NV capabilities. Even the thought that now the terrorists probably have TI sights and 3rd gen NVGs while Paras mostly have only 2nd gen monotubes is scary. Maybe that's why Para don't dare to do night ops against militants. They'd be slaughtered 🙂🙂
