This is the mindset I fear most Indian Upper brass have. They are deluded by a mythical height number and think that’s how combat is fought in 2025.

Outdated tactics and lack of surveillance equipment. Never mind piss poor individually issued gear. IA chases militants like the local state police trying to contain corona. Putting up barricades and cordons and hoping nothing escapes. When they do escape, the knee jerk reaction is to send a chopper full of top men and drop them in the middle of bum fuck nowhere with little to no ISR support on standby. Which quickly devolves into a wild goose chase up and down mount Olympus, and ends in an ambush somewhere.​

And often times the stops will charge headfirst into a group of 2-3-5 militants, and take at least one down at the cost of his own life.

That is the bravery of the men in the Indian Army that is disrespected and taken for granted by the shameless generals and MoD.

Shooting range is decent and worth noting they appear to be practicing with NODs, everything else is very goofy and unserious- dangling lense covers, silly shooting stances, pretty sure the posing guy is flagging his buddy constantly etc etc

Have to agree to an extent. Israelis are pretty good but the gold standard are U.K./US and French (Germans only really on the HR side but not DA or long range offensive stuff). Russians might be interesting to have feedback from given they have fought a peer conflict but maybe more so in just what not to do

The issue is again the Indian system is so poorly structured that lessons can never be learned and institutionalised. One team might train with x, another with y and when they get back they apply those lessons for a few years then they leave/promote. India needs a permanent dedicated SOF C&C with permanent structures, already all the lessons from the surgical strikes of 2016 are likely gone out of the para battalions, 26/11 knowledge was gone By the early 2010s from NSG etc

All good getting foreign instructors but if you can’t even learn your own lessons you’re constantly going to be starting from square one

Jagarpora encounter was part of the zenith of tactical acumency om yhe Indian Army. Double Digit militants killed. Nowadays these guys would get away with multiple ambushes and possibly even with their life.
