Indian Special Forces

12 PARA (SF) on a Special Reconnaisance mission
View attachment 4697
Damnnnn if there's any unit rn I am most excited about other than MARCOs, it's 12PSF, I mean they are buying shit ton of stuff, rapidly upgrading PCs, shoes and HCB helmets (as shown in AT order recently), looks like they like this particular russian digital camo too meanwhile doing ops in kashmir.. I look forward to what they become in future. 4 PSF has kinda fallen recently.. the only unit rocking today's standards PCs and rigs in kashmir (not individual purchases but standardized kit) rn is 9 PSF (as seen in operational photos). Seen them twice or thrice since that kulgam op and they are decently kitted up everytime (as expected from them)

Just for the Indian context, GARUDs have GCCT and GTAC and all in the force are JTAC certified!:D

GCCT = CCT
GTAC = TACP

(Funfact: The speciality patches like GTAC is designed by your's truly @Arad Operator)😄
That's nice that you got the oppurtunity to work with them, appreciate your effort. I know Garuds are the primary force in CCT & JTAC roles.

One question I would like to ask you is, we saw Garud SEAD too

I really want to understand that role better because:

SEAD(suppression of enemy air defense) and DEAD(nowadays destructive SEAD) have historically been air based in hunter-killer/wild weasel teams. I can see parachuters integrated into the SEAD role when they have to land a helo or something in areas where there is SHORAD(short range air defense) saturation. Nowadays for very complex air defense systems(think SA-10/SA-20), planes are not used, cruise missiles launched from ships or missile silos are given preference

I think SEAD by CCTs or a JTAC can happen if they detect some sort of popup SAM that was not detected earlier and is within their observable range. The work of the TACP is very specific in relation to the whole of SEAD/OCA(offensive counter air)/DCA(defensive counter air) The TACP clears in CAS calls which is separate from cruise missile strikes. Some CAS types require the JTAC/FAC to have eyes on the plane but almost all of them require the plane to have eyes on target. Cruise missiles launched to sever air defenses fall under SEAD, which the CCTs don't really control through things like a nine line. Nine line is what a FAC/JTAC uses to guide CAS aircraft to target.

Line 4 and 6 are often meant to be read back to the JTAC/FAC

So how exactly does this happen in Garud's context ? Also as far as I understand Garud has the roles equivalent to the following US SOFs
  1. CCTs (I love that GCCT patch by the way)
  2. Pararescue (What we call CSAR within Garud I think)
  3. SEAD (This is where I have my doubts, what do they exactly do as I have mentioned in detail what my knowledge about this is)
  4. DAGRE (Deployed Aircraft Ground Response Element) - Now I know Garuds might not call it DAGRE, but it's the most famous Garud Role amongst civilians. DAGREs are US AFSOC's special tactical units that provide security for AFSOC aircraft transiting airfields where security is unknown or inadequate. They advise the mission commander on FP measures, conduct FP surveys, provide close-in security. Teams may perform other security missions as required by the mission commander. US DAGREs may also secure food distribution points, escort PJ rescue elements, and set up processing points for evacuating US nationals. (Like Garuds were involved in evacuation of Indians in Afghanistan)
Correct me wherever you think I'm wrong

What purpose do these woman commando even serve in NSG ?
I bet that selection standards must have been lowered in order for them to get inducted.
They can be attached to the hostage evacuation team once it has been cleared . Presence of some female operators will be good if female hostages are involved as it will give them some psychological support.

They can also serve as medics , snipers , control and coordination team , tech teams etc .
I personally believe that in urban CT ops women can be deployed in all cases provided they prove they are fully capable to do it .

Imagine being a highly motivated soldier in kashmir who was looking forward to his new job at Nsg Thana and suddenly get rejected because of some blak widow bs who could barely shoot even if their lives depend on it
The only reason we have such bad quality female ops is coz we go easy on them .
Just be super harsh and select a handful of true beasts train them rigorously, deploy them .
After that assign them to select and train other female operators with high standards.
In a few iterations you will have good quality female operators. And a good ecosystem , after that the quality will not degrade automatically.

So you're saying they are similar to Civil Affair teams ? One thing I do not understand is, even in their own PR / recruitment / show of force video...they are showing the female cdos with bad shooting standards. Do they think that people will not notice this happening. Because it might very well be true cause if you start criticising them someone's going to throw a nasty typical 'jai ho gang' comment. In my opinion they just want female cdos to seem to fit in. Female roles in NSG would never be combat related. They would be in support roles at most

ok that makes more sense. Agreed (y)

Bold of you to assume they ever review the footage before publishing it

This happens when standard is set by gov/officials and not the ecosystem itself .

movable

By the way these guys have done some amazing achievments man

they created the new MARCOS indoor range at Karna, as well as NSG's new ranges in Mumbai and Manesar apart from what we know 4 para SF's new kill house
Their is one more para killhouse they built I am forgetting the name and good to know they are movable gives them so much more useful

Kalakote Encounter 2023 operation (from honorpoint)

Lance Naik Sanjay Bisht hailed from Ratighat village of Nainital district in Uttarakhand and was born in the year 1993. Son of Shri Diwan Singh Bisht, L/Nk Sanjay Bisht had a brother Neeraj Bisht as his sibling. Like many youngsters in Uttarakhand, he had an inclination to serve in the Armed Forces since his younger days. Consequently, he joined the army in the year 2012 at the age of 19 years, after completing his school education. He was recruited into the Parachute Regiment, an elite infantry Regiment well known for its daredevil para commandos and numerous bold operations. Later he decided to volunteer for Special Forces and was inducted into the elite 9 Para(SF), a unit raised in 1966 that specialized in Mountain Warfare and Counter Insurgency/Counter Terrorism operations. By the year 2023, L/Nk Sanjay Bisht had put in about 11 years of service and had developed into a battle-hardened soldier.

Rajouri Encounter (J&K) : 22 Nov 2023

During Nov 2023, L/Nk Sanjay Bisht’s unit 9 Para(SF) was deployed in the Rajouri sector of the Kashmir valley, as part of the 'Romeo' force functioning under the operational control of XVI Corps of the Indian Army. As the area of responsibility (AOR) of the unit fell in the region infested with militants, the unit had to undertake counter-insurgency operations on a regular basis. Based on the information from the intelligent sources, the unit decided to launch a search and cordon operation along with 63 RR and J&K Police on 22 Nov 2023. Accordingly, a joint operation was launched on the intervening night of 21/22 Nov 2023 along with elements of 9 Para(SF), 63 RR, and J & K Police. As planned the joint team reached the suspected Kalakote area of Gulabgarh forest in Rajouri district and launched the cordon and search operation. L/Nk Sanjay Bisht was part of the joint force that was tasked to undertake this operation.

As the search operation was underway, the terrorists sensing the danger fired at the troops in a bid to escape. A fierce gun battle ensued thereafter with a heavy exchange of fire from both sides. The terrorists including their leader were holed up in a dhok (Temporary thatched roof mud house) and were targeting the troops from there. L/Nk Sanjay Bisht, sensing danger to other soldiers and civilians as well, came out of cover to pin down the terrorists. However, while doing so, L/Nk Sanjay Bisht got caught in the volley of fire, sustaining bullet injuries. He soon succumbed to his injuries and was martyred. The operation continued and eventually, all the terrorists were neutralized. However, besides L/Nk Sanjay Bisht, four other brave hearts from 9 Para(SF) and 63 RR too lost their lives during the operation. The other martyred soldiers included Capt MV Pranjal, Capt Shubham Gupta, Havildar Abdul Majid, and Paratrooper Sachin Laur. L/Nk Sanjay Bisht was a valiant soldier, who displayed courage of a very high order during the operation and laid down his life at the age of 30 years in the service of the nation. L/Nk Sanjay Bisht was awarded the "Sena Medal" posthumously on 26 Jan 2024 for his commendable gallantry, devotion to duty, and supreme sacrifice.

Lance Naik Sanjay Bisht is survived by his father Shri Diwan Singh Bisht and brother Shri Neeraj Bisht.
All terrorists were killed? Sure?
