So this is 1 Archer? My bad I didn’t know I just quoted what the post said.Arey bhai, 1 Vikas is not 1 Archer!
Both are different units:
- 1 Vikas is an Airborne unit with specialization in Mountain Warfare
- 1 Archer is a SOF unit with different mandate
Even the raising days are different, one is 2 decades older than the later...![]()

My home is near one of the Army command HQRS. Once a drunk soldier was cought by the local police & locked up. The Army literally came in with trucks, surrounded the Police station broke the lock up & took the soldier.
FYI many local boys really wanted to join Indian Army after that incident.
so was during terrorism in Punjab. Same treatment to Punjab Police and some Civilians - was very effective in getting handle of otherwise spiraling out of hand situation in 80's and 90's. Infact its the learning from Punjab which were applied in late 90's too. IIRC KPS Gill was deputed to Kasmir also.In Jammu and Kashmir it is very common for the Army to beat civilians and police whenever they want.
In 90s the situation was very bad.
I wont write about it...warna vivaad ho jaega.
This is actually very common not just in Army but any forces from CRPF to SF to simple Infantry guys if you visit any city every one of them have local story of this kind anyone else remember the CRPF(could be some other unit been a while) case in Lockdown? The dude got beaten up and then his CO came with his whole team to take him away from the station apparently alot happened and the case died in media few days laterShit is way more common than you think
