Indian Special Forces (29 Viewers)

I know the pic is recently snapped one but the uniform and equipment are all of 2010 era.In western Reddit pages SPG is trolled heavily for their uncle type dress and kit.
Congress party had given them a free hand because they liked History as a subject.

When someone is least bothered about his security and protocol and puts a risk to everyone else with him also then what can SPG do?

High vis gormint property chap right in front of the gun 🤡. Everything is treated like a civil stock-keeping exercise. Bean counting to the max. Also this gun is old enough to have a kid in college. And the reflex is liable for a pension it's so worn out.

Nope. Enough of this woke de-colonization shit
Ask him to stop wearing a tie and use a smart phone or write in english if he does not like the British era reminders

Lmao what is woke about changing names. De colonization should happen, and I agree with cold hearted aviator. It will not happen now but should be done slowly.
de colonization has nothing do with wearing clothes, using technology or about language. We should get rid of every british symbols and nomenclature from the armed forces.

Using british nomenclature, etiquettes and training methods reeks of mental colonization. They should be replaced with Indian equivalent.

Its funny they had desert tyres and other modifications but in 2025 Force vehicles or gypsies dont seem to have one.

With today’s technology there are so many things that could be done in India…imagine doing that in 71 with imported mal.
I will keep saying this again and again and it still stands true

Back then, education was better, quality of men and training was high as well as the pride of a recently independent nation. Not to mention many senior commanders had WW2 experience

That’s exactly the core issue which is the Indian equivalent we’re supposed to adopt?

What rank will you use ? Subedar, havildar etc have Mughal origins

Eriya Udaiyar and other such were Chola ranks

There are so many others go, pick and choose.

And as for etiquette and drills ?
I agree they need to be changed.

They’ve become hollow rituals. Even the British have discarded many of their own Victorian formalities.

In the mess, our officers roll rotis and dip them in dal, awkwardly mimicking some imagined "gentleman" way. It’s when we can build institutions from our own logic, not cosplay heritage

Even the British, when they adopted Indian food, eventually ate it the way it’s done—with hands, not with some colonial hangover of forced etiquette.

The real issue is modernization. For the British it was to dump their victorian values for modern ones

For us it should also be to dump the British victorian, colonial etiquettes

But changing Regiment names ? Have they not build a solid foundation post independence ?

Actually do remove caste denominations like Rajputs and Jats then what ? Because those came after the Hunna invasions

Just make it the Navy way man, honestly....why replace British 'traditions' with Indian ones when you can remove much of the traditions and just keep your regimental history with you.

The Japanese never got colonized and yet they have customs similar to that of the west. Yes I belive boycotting uneccesary cultural things which hold no meaning in the actual world and are unnecessarily given attention is 'woke'.

It's not decolonization or anything....just get rid of this colonial hangover and move the fuck on

Agreed with this. Follow the japanese way, integrate some of the things that have been acquired, regimental names are part of history, there's zero sense in renaming them. Remove the unnecessary necessities, keep the ones that matter. Japan did it, their culture is "western" but also unique, military and civilian. Here it's just wasting time on things that don't even matter much in the grand scale of things, it's just that the muh colonial names bad hurr durr crowd has grown
