Indian Special Forces

I think the more important question here is that why is your main “Special Force” not competent enough to do a hostage rescue mission?
Because of

Lack of funding
Lack of exposure
Lack of clarity of role.

I will say it again that this is not the job of Para SF with the funding they get.

American Green Berets maybe doing it but that is Amreeka where even the SWAT is better equipped than our NSG.

Our troops dont have equipment as we are poor.

Hence, to expect them to pull off something for which they are not even raised is demanding too much.

Ofcourse Para SF would think they can do anything because of their Macho attitude but these kind of ops shouldnt be assinged to them.

Whats stopping NSG from deploying 100 troops there or JkP raising a dedicated unit?

Mostly because the Para today was modelled on Spetznaz. Their main proficiency is to hunt then in mountain hideouts or assault holdouts etc. Hostage rescue is not their primary forte.
hain ? No they were never modelled on Spetznaz. Hostage Rescue is one of their roles, and let's admit they are'nt good enough for it now. CT was all started by Paras here in India, be it any SCTU of SG or NSG.

The real problem has to do with everything Para SF has administrativley going on. I mentioned earlier how some squads within 9 got the experience to train with SEALs and develop a field manual for themselves, why was that knowledge not passed to other units ?

Why was it not in the curriculum of SFTS, Nahan (now it's in Bakloh) Aree you guys talk about standardization of equipment. Bloody the probation is not standardized, the SOPs are not standardized...every battalion acts as it's own unit.

That might resemble Spetznaz but we did not model ourselves on them. We suffer this because of our own faults. Our guys did brilliant hostage rescue op in Sierra Leone, soemthing that matched international standards. But that was a jungle environment and much of the op was rural or jungle.

When it comes to demolition raids, jungle warfare, mountain warfare, desert warfare and psuedo ops, Para SF leads the way but when it comes to room clearance, MOUT, basic urban operations, hostage rescue in urban scenarios and much of modern special forces warfare.....we see Para SF taking a back seat and it's soley because of this

MARCOS

already the enemy is targetting SF guys on particular and making a game out of it, now you have these fellow paratroopers donning the maroon beret and standing out like figure 11 targets. I am still hoping it's not a pic from an encounter
Para TA unit

Yeah, typical Fanboy reaction when they don't have any explanation to justify failures of their holly cow para SF.

FANBOYS:- OPERATION WAS SOO DIFFICULT AND COMPLICATED

OTHERS:- WHY!!??

FANBOYS:- TERRORISTS WERE HOLDING GUNS, THEY FIRED AT PARA SF AT SIGHT.
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Calm down.

Read the whole context of the situation first.
This is not some regular "family".

They were giving shelter to the yahoos for quite some time before they turned on them and took them hostage.

Why should a RR team put their men at unnecessary risk for an OGW family? How does that make sense?

Does someone know in depth about the 2016 incident where five terrorists were holed up in a house and about 10 Rashtriya Rifles soldiers had gone for search but caught inside the house ?
They were rescued by 4 para sf where even 4 para took a fatal casualty but managed to free all the hostages and kill all the terrorists ? This came to mind after the recent e-lafda over here :D

took two fatal casualties and yes I went back to see that interview in the morning after reading today's messages. Major Arjun was a part of it....ultimatley they did room intervention in day only, also RR also deserves some credit for being experienced soilders with their weapons and not civilians who were being held hostages. Also he says it could've turned into a hsotage situation but it did not exactly, it was quite close to. In any case Major Arjun said this was the toughest operation he was a part of and exactly because it was coming down to hostage scenario/room intervention scenario. So yes

Is this the same incident in which a CO DSP and Major were trapped inside a house and killed?

I asked for details dawg so that I could ask some higher up guy for the exact details not the intricate breakdown (appreciate it though)

That was 2020 Handwara

Such incidents are seriously discouraging me for upcoming ssb attempts and makes me want to focus on clearing management exams.

If I was you, I would use this anger to clear the SSB exam. This anger would have helped me successfully clear the probation in special forces. Only to show those haramzada terrorists who kill kids and molest women that I am their maut!

Hey guys I want you opinion on comtacs we know para went for in ear comtacs as it sound is more detailed and it is light and compact and can be used for longer duration than traditional or over ear comtacs so i think in ear makes sense right

And I think using in ear comtacs on full cut helmet won't be problem as it is with traditional comtacs so you opinion on in ear version for sf and ghatakar in future ? (Atleast by 2050)
