Yes i know many cases where people get matyred knowing their equipment wont support them.

It's sad man, they have the jazba-junoon necessary but their lives are lost because of things out of their control like lack of armament, equipment, training or support( i.e recon drone, helicopter ), like in those "Jihadi in Jammu Jungle" terrorist attacks/ambushes we have been seeing and seething at from the past year.

It reminds me of the 26/11 attacks where initially the police had to fight the jihadis with only old rifles while the jihadis had AKs.

AK203 is basically an country level scam pulled by our beloved DPSU OFB. @johnnybaba explained this in old forum very well. GOI could not release the hold over its famous sons and decided to award the contract while the private defense companies already started to show signs of improvement.

Funnily even before the contract we already manufacturing the Bulgarian M1 in OFT as TAR. But the entire jist of Amethi factory is state of art , new quality blah blah etc. I mean OFB exists for more than 100+ years and it still needs TOT to Quality control, manufacturing arms everything.

At the end we end up with 7.62x39mm which is nowhere an useful round for an country.


We end up with Sig Sauer for few Infantry.
AK203 for remaining Infantry.
Negev for LMG
Sarko Sniper rifle
Insas with new furniture, Insas LMG with modification.

None of them were following an standard ammo, common family of rifles. It is just an zoo.


I will call the same bullshit with Railways PSU like ICF, RCF, MCF. They were in Coach manufacturing and can't able to build an modern Indian style coaches based on feedback. But you still need ToT for an 70s LHB. They can't manufacture an Coach with same tolerance, everything will be in own dimensions. Same will be OFBs, Just these guys can't manufacture an bullet properly and need ToT to even do that.

GoI is encouraging these DPSU for long time stating flimsy reasons and feeding the Union.
