Indo-China Border & LAC

China says India has no right to develop contested border region

BEIJING —
India has no right to carry out development in the area China calls South Tibet, China's Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday in response to a Reuters report on New Delhi's plans to speed up hydropower projects in the border state.

"South Tibet is China’s territory," a foreign ministry spokesman said in a statement.

It said India had no right to carry out development there and the establishment of what India calls Arunachal Pradesh on Chinese territory is "illegal and invalid."

Reuters reported on Tuesday that India plans to spend $1 billion to expedite the construction of 12 hydropower stations in the northeastern Himalayan state.

India's Foreign Ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment on China's statement.

India says its remote state of Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of the country, but China says it is a part of southern Tibet, and has objected to Indian infrastructure projects there.

Last week, India Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Kazakhstan where the two agreed to intensify efforts to resolve issues along their border.

An unlikely scenario and a good possibility of IAF flying from Assam airfields and from A&N, destroy a bunch of attacking Chinese planes and with that their prestige will be gone. It is 1800 miles one way flight path which the missiles cover it better but at that distance and low accuracy of their missiles; that effort will be worthless. In return, Indian intermediate range missile will wreck havoc on the Chinese missile silos and bases. It is all Chinese losses.

Chinese claim a lot more than what they can deliver. This is part of their psychological warfare. Only arm chair generals believe that.
Same thinking was there in 1962, sir... What happened...everyone knows...

In 1962, Chinese caught India unaware. In 1967 they got nose bleed at Nathula for being too smart. In 1987, the Chinese ran away after a brigade was airlifted and placed at LAC near Tawang by General Sundarji. It was quite for next 30 years then they woke up again Galwan but inflicted casualties on India and received equal number of casualties (typical denial) and then retreated 5 km to a safer position on the Galwan River and so on.

There was a photo that flew around briefly of a droneshot of a massive graveyard with tombstones engraved in mandarin in a place with terrain similar to ladakh.

1987 sumdorong chu valley standoff was such a great victory that the valley is still in chinese hands . except for pangong tso where we pushed hard - everywhere else , buffer zone on our side are larger.

just need to fire our rifle and china man will run away was also what nehru thought .

china isnt pakistan . best hope we modernize our military , build all the roads . that itself will keep the dragon on their side of LAC . otherwise there will be a mini-1962 next decade.

Today's pla soldiers are not the pla soldiers of 1962 which were battle hardened and experienced as they participated in the long march campaign of Mao.

Also chinese had much higher casualties than us in 1962 which helped Mao in preventing an overthrow of his regime due to the famine he caused.
Better to send subjects to fight your neighbours so they don't fight against you.

All wrong information. Sumdorong was never in Chinese hands except that they ran away without a fight.

China is worst than Pakistan as the pocket size soldiers carry copied and reverse engineered hardware and they run away at the slightest of noise of confrontation.

this is their post , south of the valley . we lost the valley , they lost the pasture south of it . stand off ended in stalemate

saw a brigadier interview on youtube . subject was depsang standoff . he proudly claimed that chinese are weak , we used to patrol area regularly. that they cant stand the cold .

reality however is they control the location now . had already build bunkers / posts / roads around 2009 itself .

not saying they are gods or anything , they were humiliated badly in doklam and pangong tso . but they clearly r not weak or incompetent.

I would recommend to avoid opening a new thread for every single news-report. On the previous forum we had a user "WolfPack86" and a few Chinese Spam bots who would constantly spam threads after threads and it made it a headache for me and many other users to browse for the useful threads.
  • Let's not head the PDF way and degrade the quality of discussion on DFB.
  • We have a dedicated thread on DFB to discuss the Sino-Indian Border Conflict.
  • I would suggest the mods to move this thread to the "Indo-China Border & LAC" thread so as to avoid unnecessary cluttering of the new forum.
  • Sometimes its fine, if the incident is so major that it's better to open a dedicated thread to discuss it then fine, but I think it would be better to move this to the other thread.

If you find any thread created just to cover a single incident then you can report it to mods.

Yeah that's how it works both capture territories and then come to negotiating table. Lose some win some

If we were losing territories which meant losing tactical and strategic advantage and gaining nothing the chinese would never come to the negotiating table and press on with aggression.

I never said chinese are weak. But they need oxygen tanks and temp controlled barracks, we don't. And you can't win wars with oxygen tanks

Casualties were miniscule on both sides in 1962 [just a few thousand] .. Wouldnt have helped MAO w.r.t domestic situation.....Also every war India has fought, casualties have been low.. India has never fought ww2, Ukraine like high casualty attrition war..

Weren't chinese using human wave tactics? How can casualties be low?

And fuck the chinks.
Wish GoI had the same minerals to speak like this. Instead we recognised chinkas ctrl over CoT and keep ceding territory saying ‘koi nahi ghusa’

They've already wargamed flying over Myanmar to attack A&N islands from Yunnan . Why do you think we're rushing ahead with the procurement of 26 nos Rafale M ?

26 Rafale Ms with is carrier-based and deployed at the western naval theatre is unlikely to help Andaman. Instead Andaman will be covered by MRSAM + Akash and Airforce fighters deployed at Andaman islands.
