Indo US Relations

He's wrong. Indian Embassy cannot file lawsuits. It is a violation of Vienna protocols. Only US citizens, lawful US residents, and foreign corporations having a presence in US can have standing to file lawsuits. Diplomats cannot unless they want to lose their diplomatic immunity and subject themselves to the jurisdiction of US which GoI will never allow.

Yes if you enter court system, you are accepting the jurisdiction of the court. Diplomatic immunity would need to be waived. However there is nothing stopping the Indian consulate from funding private Canadians or Indians residing in Canada to file lawsuits

Nope not even allowed otherwise you would be classified as a foreign agent of that nation and that is a big no no.

The U.S. Constitution provides robust protections for freedoms of expression and association, foreign NGOs have standing to sue in U.S. courts, and U.S. courts are sufficiently independent to be able to hear a challenge to FARA.

Nah, it’s not a big no no. State department funds people via NGOs all the time.

Yes because the host nation don't do any pushback. But in the US, you have to register yourself as an foreign agent because if you do not, the consequences are severe as Paul Manafort found out the hard way.

Yes they can sue but not while being as foreign agents. Their cases would get quickly thrown out.

I don’t understand why the family of the hurt individuals doesn’t just sue the perps. Also the NGOs should get funding from Indian government and represent Indians in court.

One hindu guy got arrested right?
What about him?
Will they rot him in the cells?
The community should get together to fight his case.

There are companies focus specifically on litigation financing and they basically have a liquidation preference on the settlement and they fund on a contingency basis.

Sikh Activists See It as Freedom. India Calls It Terrorism

Devious headline by who else??

Sikh Activists See It as Freedom. India Calls It Terrorism
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/03/world/asia/india-sikh-separatism.html

American CIA giving narration to its project. Simple headline laced with Lunderican propaganda. You read the headline & immediately a certain "figure" of India rises in the unsuspecting mind of those who do not know the details.

"Just like how normal people, the Sikh activists too want "freedom". But India sees this as terrorism. How can India behave in such reprehensible way against the aspirations of normal people?" India is cruel & evil wherein the aspirations of normal Sikh minorities are seen as terrorism. India's prominent opposition leader Rahul Gandhi exposed that Sikhs are not allowed to wear the turban which is a religious obligation. Sikh activists (Ex. Pannun) who love freedom just like the Americans & Canadians had thanked Rahul Gandhi for his bold statement." - This is the gist, this is the context. This is what they really mean. This is the narrative.

Muslim Activists/Freedom Fighters Like Bin Laden & Baghdadi See It As Freedom/Resistance. America Calls It Terrorism.

India has to be innovative, foot soldiers here needs to be named & shamed.

I wouldn't be surprised- it's not too far out in left field- that papers/ mags like the NY Times, WP, Time, Guardian, Toronto Star and the like, are carrying provocative and sensational stories about India, as a cheap way to increase sales. It is known that the print media is struggling in the West, one way to offset that is to publish eye catching stories about India and ethnic Indians, knowing that a significant section of the community are big readers of the English print media, at least relative to many other ethnicities. Just a thought!

may not be the case, if so we would have seen evidence by now. they were doing the same even when print media was not in financial crisis, in past decades. in my view, western gaze explains their behaviour better than sales targets.
