I think the GoI is waiting for the tests of the Kaveri K-10 which is under construction . It's safe to say that even if it clears the preliminary tests which is satisfying all the test parameters , we're going to see a Kaveri - II program targeting F-414 tech specs.

We can also say that IF everything goes right the MLU of the LCA Mk-1 / Mk-1a / Mk-2 , AMCA Mk-1 & TEDBF will see Kaveri TFs powering it.

The new kaveri with new fan is already assembled tested in high altitude ground based facilities. More such will be build by godrej.
Now our slot for testing on russia ftb has came so that's why this news has resurfaced.

I had posted in past as per gtre kaveri can produce 57/91kn thrust.
As per some simulations I forgot.

AMCA mk1 would get the indo-french engine when it will be re-engined.
I suppose after this new tech will be brought in this country with advancements kaveri derivatives could re engine Tejas mk2 & tedbf.
While the current kaveri-Tejas re-engine is a done deal.
Just can't wait for the results/data of kaveri on ftb.
As per alpha defence it produced 52kn in high altitude facilities.

Govt is same wait and watch mode man for last 20 years. Testing facilities are needed like now to collect data and make on time progress. Unless running to Russia, France and aamerica for testing and blowing monies there seem similar to moog import scene isnpite of local alternative available? Or no one's want preodic onsite opportunity to go away?

Frankly this government has been a disappointment as far as defence goes. This is 10 + years of seeing them talking .

I'm of the impression that whatever positive is happening in defence is on account of its own momentum. There's nothing out of the ordinary this government has undertaken so as to leave its imprint on it like say in infrastructure. The only positives perhaps we can take away is the emphasis on indigenization which barring minor issues they've undertaken somewhat successfully.

Other than that be it in terms of budgetary allocation in terms of percentage of the GDP , the Agniveer scheme , the pathetic condition of the IAF , the listless state of affairs in the IA , especially after the Chinese have shown their hand in 2020 is inexplicable.

If things go downhill when we go against the Chinese , more than the UPA it's the NDA which will have to take a hit to it's image & Modi's legacy will forever be tarnished irrespective the progress in most of the other areas.

I believe they've constructed a new engine based on the results after the tests at Moscow. That's what is being fabricated by Godrej Aerospace. Added to it is a new design plus new materials for construction of the AFB by BAPL .

I don't think we'd be going in for a new iteration of the proposed JV for the AMCA Mk-2 program from the early indications I see on SM. The analogue for the F -414 will also come from a Kaveri derivative.

Doesn't matter. We need the smooth supply of F404 engines now. We'll be making 180 LCAs till 2030

Ofcourse, amriki got us by balls for the time being but kaveri (81kn wala) is our only ticket out to sanction(& many other hanky-panky) proof 180 odd frames

It's mostly because there is nobody remaining who care about defense or knows what has to be done
Batman & Robin's sole life focus is to win elections and stay in power and implement certain Chaddi ideological goals like removing 370 and mandir wahi banega.

The late Manohar Parrikar did but he died, conveniently for some people.

Above all even more than the govt the blame will always lie on the shoulders of the cliques of Genrols and Air Marshlols who are #1 in sabotaging indigenous defense projects for those sweet,sweet imports.

I really pray though that God only gives wisdom to the Dynamic Duo to increase funding for Engine development on mission mode like how previous govts were for nukes and ICBM development.

Engine development of all kinds turboprop, turbofans like kaveri, marine gas turbines, marine diesel engines, terrestrial diesel engines etc.

We have to start planning like a Great Power.
We are too large a country and have too many enemies to be a 2rs (((importer)))

I will not be agreeing with you here. Every other TEC that I participate in, most of the military people fear that if the government changes the modernization will halt, slowly if not suddenly.

Why we don't see results are due to the following,

1. Red -tapism
2. Army doesn't know how to and where to use the money
3. Dalal BC, civillian as well as in-service

And imo, Dalals are the biggest mfs. And I personally experience how these mfs try to kill others, even for small little tenders.

I used to think it's the other way around, with the current caulk-block of a Govt goes, the next Secular, Ambedkarite, Gandhian, Democratic govt will open the flood gates to "modernization"

After the pathetic performance of Import khor airforce on Feb 27 2019.. and the useless Balakot strike where no one knows what the IAF hit.... Mudi knows even giving IAF everything they want will be useless in a war..
Concentrate on Army and Navy.... Cruise missiles ballistic missles, Drones, artillery..and just shove desi stuff down Air Marshals' throat even of we are down to 22 squadrons.. because UN Airforce is useless anyway..

Air Marshalls need to accept deshi maal, the current childish tantrums of doing drama over UnPrOvEn "MiG-21+++" in hopes for (((emergency procurements))) needs to stop because the L's they will take in the future can't be fully offloaded to the Gobi govt.

Imagine any future loss at war with Cheen and the Air Marsholls are like "We lost because ebul phasist communal Gobi didn't buy imported Rafal and F35 for us, we fought with what we had yo! "
