There will be no referendum! Whoever wants - Drang nach Osten, but this is our land.
our land? You see that's just one way to make you pawns obey and die for rich leaders. Akim, it's not your land, you own a tiny little lot of land and so do I. You live in an illusion, you have an illusion that your part of something bigger than yourself, and you need to die for that. The truth is you could be happy and move to a tropical paradise, but you rather stay in that hell hole and die for Zelensky and western neocons.

Many of these passages were said a year before the start of a full-scale war. Did you notice Lukashenko there? He often has portions of choice nonsense. The latest is the threat of WW3 if someone attacks Belarus.
Who needs him? Putler will die and he will disappear.
About freedom of speech. There is none in a dictatorial country. It was funny to hear how the residents of a small village in Kursk oblast found out on TV how Ukrainian fascists gathered them all in a community center and burned them. Can you imagine how their relatives are? There is no telephone connection there. Only when they took a woman in labor to Sumy, she was able to call her relatives in St. Petersburg and say that they are all right.
You tell a lot of stories like this. Perhaps they are true, perhaps not. Forgive me for not believing them at face value. These stories reinforce your negative beliefs about Russia, and they are meant as a rallying cry for Ukraine, so they could be fabricated for that reason alone.

Land - not in the sense of a garden plot, but in the sense of the territory of a state. For this, borders are needed. The theory of "might makes right" ended with the end of WW1.
For some reason, your compatriots did not want to unite in a "greater USSR", although their coat of arms had a world without borders.
So this war is not for imperialists or rich people - this is a war for order.
In any war there are those who profit from it. They do not even want it to end. This has always been and will be so, as long as there are wars.
Putler and Russian society are just a bad tracing of Stalin and Soviet society of the 30s of the last century.
Is there an English-language copy of the film "The Great Citizen" (1937) in the USA?
- Eh, twenty years after the GOOD/ BIG WAR to go out and look at the Soviet Union of republics from about THIRTY-FORTY. The devil knows how good it is! " (c)

But Putler's ambitions ran into the Dnieper.

But Putler's ambitions ran into the Dnieper.

And Zelensky's ambitions ran into Kursk.

There are articles that write about this, but they refer to some former assistant of Zaluzhny. Zaluzhny himself did not speak about this publicly, so the information goes into the "I believe - I don't believe" plane, where there is a lot of different information, for example, the one where Stalin, through the Bulgarian ambassador, tried to negotiate with Hitler and give up all his conquests of 1939-40 in order to stop the war. But the fact is: Stalin was the ruler until March 1953, and Hitler died in April 1945.
These are all assumptions. We do not know the reality.
