That is the "diplomatic way" of stating what you actually understood. This regular obsession with India's NE indicates that Bangladesh has got a plan for that particular region and the current dispensation is willing to execute it at the right moment.

The Greater Bangladesh project wasn't some Indian Nationalist's fever dream. It was/is very much a reality.

The problem is that they don't have the balls to go for it. I bet India desperately wants current BD regime to make some visible move so that we can expand Siliguri corridors as well as connect NE to the sea via Chattagram. However, BD is failing to deliver in any of its threat. It is frustrating to say the least.

However, recent moves by BD to kiss and make out with China should be a good reason to create Chattagram autonomous region once and for all. Whatever happens, Chini military assets should not be there in Chattagram as that would be disastrous for India both on account of NE as well as Indian ocean control.
