Better late the never .. eh ?

Sarcasm aside , the new engine was delivered 2 months ago and the news from ADA was that the airframes are ready waiting for engine integration ...now this first one is outfitted with an old engine 🤦🏽‍♂️
The new engine is delivered to HAL Bengaluru facility and will be fitted with the production aircraft in line which hasn’t received any engine. All those 4-5 Tejas built will be in Category B engines only for time being.

Lots of information from HAL Conference Call :

  • LCA Mk1a

    - GE engine supply chain issues resolved
    - Committed to supplying 12 engines by Dec.
    - 12 aircraft expected to be ready this year
  • Misc

    - First LCA Mk1 expected for overhaul in FY26

>LCA Mk1 expeted for Overhaul

Overhaul meaning what? they will add all Mk1A improved equipment to the existing mk1 plane?

No, only DAC approval came. This will be followed by CCS approval and then final order placement. Still several months away, unless fast tracked.
Out of curiosity, why is a second order urgent? It will take several years to produce the first 83 Mk1A even on the most optimistic projections. Long lead items take 2(?) years to produce?

To me placing an order for Mk2 is much more important. That will give the builder time to set up for production so there is not a big delay between IAF acceptance and production starting.

You saw what ge said on the engine order, when production line was closed for 3-4 years, then hal placed an order
Thats how you got thirsty for engines

So rn the contractors of subsystems inside and all avionics, then fuselage had prepared for 83 units only, then their production line will either be closed or run very slowly for spares
So you need to inform them to be ready or place order so that they can make necessary changes in their schedule or production capability, or else you would again get a dry production line at hal bangalore

In the operation Sindoor forum, I asked if Tejas was used in the aerial combat that happened. Does anyone have any info regarding this? There was a tweet regarding this, but I couldn't make anything out of it...Neither was Mig-21 heard being used in it..
