bro i hope i am wrong but he looks malnourished... tho im also pretty low on my bmi but i believe thats not expected of a SF guy

While you maynot be wrong entirely few things to consider

1. Childhood/infant nutrition in India is horrible. Access to better diet later in life does not compensate for foundational deficiencies.

2. 10/3 Para - Are Built for endurance in the Desert. They are built different. Mentally, psycologically, Physically. - kinda like frogmen who swim out of submarines. - weird bunch of humans

Might be fresh out of selection
It all comes down to what unit..whats the training like bcoz diet is same for all units.

I was living in a cantonment since many weeks and every morning when i went to run i saw really tall and well built guys running..from infantry regtt(2 seperate units) ..all of them had a local akhada wrestler type of body.

In Delhi where i live i have seen NSG guys running many times and they all look very lean.

So maybe its all ragda in the end.

Read the article yourself.

What they did -
  1. First they cut off communications links (Basically jammed the comm. using high-powered jammers).

  2. Then reconfigured the drone’s GPS coordinates to make it land at what the drone thought was its actual home base – but instead was in Iran. (Basically GPS jamming + spoofing the GPS signals to seem like the home base was Iran).
Something similar must have happened here as well. Again, I will maintain this is NOT hacking but jamming, and leveraging drone's RTB behaviour for its advantage.

From IdeaForge SWITCH's brouchure -

So basically if comm. failure happens it will automatically try to return to base. But how it will figure out where is the base ? Using GPS coordinates, which, again can be spoofed just as mentioned above.

Nothing to do with Chinese components.

Drone Tx/Rx comm. don't use TCP/IP protocol just an FYI. Also this -

What the para and the underlined red means, is that regardless of whatever Tx/Rx backdoors Chinese can create, the original comm. & commands are securely encrypted and cannot be intercepted or spoofed.

Its like, lets say you are sending a postcard to your friend, and your mailman is Chinese. So you write the postcard in your own secret code which only you and your friend know. So no matter how hard the postman tries to read or decipher it, he can't.
Are we clear which drone are we talking about here. The original article was too short and uninformative. It seems this is another case of hyperbole by Indian media where they see a weapon and call it "hi tec", "dangerous", "advance"

Spoofing GPS - its kind of Hacking but example I gave was that even sophisticated Drones can be hijacked and as Russians found in Syria your own drone taking our your own bases due to spoofing in Syria. Why do you think Army is going hammer and tongs over chinese components in "military" drones - if it was not security threat. Do we know exact make model and year of manufacture of drone that got affected in LoC and North east in Arunachal ? Was it the newer switch UAV or the older model Netra? I doubt early models had any encryption supported. GPS spoofing can also be prevented by relying on own encrypted NAVIC and GAGAN signals like this probably - and having built in signal distortion detection capability in drone detection to detect spoofing or Jamming attempt.

Apart from diet, it also boils down to genetics.. the Jats, Grenadiers, & Sikhs are generally well built, to an extent even the thambis, RajRif, Rajput troops too seem to be well built.

Army focusses on endurance, though the soldiers ( in basic training) are made to do hundred of push-ups, pull-ups, rope climbs (best upper bodybuilder) daily, they somewhere lack in protein consumed, and lack of rest as well. We are a ragda focussed army.

Once these soldiers join the unit, focus remains on running and sports, and a few sets of upper body exercise won't put on new muscle, without added resistance.

Although, I do agree that a bit of weight training, & lean muscle mass (Like NSG) would do a lot of good for infantrymen, make them more efficient, and less prone to injuries. These bodies can be built during some part of their training, but how will these bodies be maintained during harsh deployments is another ball game, even MARCOS in J&K, on an odd occasion, seem to have put on some fat.

But then we have a broken generalship, who can't be relied on to make meaningful changes, so things will remain at ww2 era.

Whats with Agniveer video propping up of insufficient training. I think somebody posted here. Any truth in the same.

most probably some dejected soldier, just like that bsf guy who popped up a few yrs ago, showing a "burnt" roti.

I have seen a particular Raj Rif battalion in the cant
All were tall, well built not too lean. They would eat lots of ghee with everything even with the tea. Would have a tough PT everyday and then they would have Sprouted Moong and Chana. Later on they would have goodies which they carry from homes Churma, Dahi, Lassi and all.
And btw nothing to do with Martial race

One of the best podcasts I've consumed off late.

Spendid storytelling, no BS, straight onto op stories.

He mentions operating with 3 Para and helping setup multiple successful ambushes.

3 Para even offered him a balidan badge and beret - don't miss this one guys!

This guy is a legend!

Our SF hungry junta should watch this and the way he has suffered in his personal life i hope he just gets as much recognition as he can.

And by the way…he is not sharing 70% of the things he did!!
