ADA Tejas Mark-II/Medium Weight Fighter

Yeah, but there are rumors going around that they are designing frame to accommodate different engines.

Not possible at all. You have to adjust for center of gravity and all that. If you want different engine options those engine have to confirm with airframe specs. The only reason why Americans could enjoy different engine options is because they made sure that those engine options fit the airframe specs when they hired those engine manufacturers to create engine prototypes.

This is big dependency then that airframe can't be change easly. Better India try to have it's own engine.

The idrw article talks of the afterburner adding 29kN thrust. Is 50kN dry thrust + 29kN wet thrust enough? That is about 5% less thrust than F404.

I don't know what Brahmos being 'entrusted' with afterburner development means. Is Brahmos going to start from scratch because the GTRE design was a failure or is Brahmos going to add the finishing touches to the design handed to it?

To be a viable engine, acceptable weight, thrust and durability levels need to be achieved. When is that likely to happen?

This news was from June actually, revealed by Alpha Defence

What news if this?

Russian also introduced new rd33 varient with more than 6000 hrs and 5th gen capability it could work for lca mk 2 and amca as we will have choice
F414 is not just about Tejas mk2 & AMCA.
It abt getting all those advance efficient high standard manufacturing process in our country for creating ecosystem for future, for AMCA mk2 engine and all other programs.

Russian has designed the al51 much before but they were/are still suffering in manufacturing.

We will also get alot of know how which is precious. Although no know why.

so whats the update in sabotage of Engine supply from GE for Tejas. it resumed or its still being blocked by Uncle Sam. any update on whats our backup plan to deal with it. sorry if I missed any earlier discussion.

All the world's aerospace OEM's sabotaged by Uncle Sam just to make sure that India cannot get engines for Mk1A? I don't think so.

I am not going to blindly believe this article. Covid is long long gone and unless it takes 3-4 years to prepare an engine or its parts this is just an excuse by Uncle Sam to tighten our nut and bolts.

Yeh jo hai woh hai, sabse bada too usko dhundho jisne ge engine ko allow kiya woh sabse bada culprit hai.

The world aerospace system has reported supply chain problems for some time. Some of them are down to the Ukraine war. Russia is a major producer of titanium. With the disruption of sanctions it would be surprising if supplies to western OEM's were were not disrupted.

An example:

Engine shortages leave Embraer unable to hit 2024 E-Jet production target

In GE's case I read that a particular supplier of parts for GE F404-IN20 had severe financial problems or went bust. Do you expect a replacement supplier to be sourced and be in production in a few weeks or months?

PS I suggested months ago that the US government might be encouraging GE not to hurry in fixing the problem. Russia's economy is mostly hydrocarbon based. US is providing Ukraine with a lot of weaponry. India buys a lot of hydrocarbons from Russia, indirectly financing Russia's war on Ukraine.

I don't know much about jet designing but it seems to me that certain parameters like air mass flow, weight, dry thrust and SFC are nearly similar in case of 'Hypothetical' Kaveri and GE 414.

So is it possible to tweak inlet designs or make them 'MODULAR' so that LCA af mk2 can accomodate both eninges??
