No shot we're getting F-22, also tejas does have BVR, its Astra mk1, missile isn't the issue here, delivery of tejas is. buying F-16 is dumb and you're here asking to buy old F-16 which is straight up comedy. buying america jets in-general is a huge headache, we can't use our own missile and bombs on it.

You will never have access to F22. Even the closest ally, Japan, can't.
F35 is for India a fantasm, or a decoy, or the two together. Trump will force you to take F21 in number first, that means you can say good by to Tejas.

A new jet is supposed to be better than existing jets, which might also mean ability to engage larger group.
Jet makers have marketed their jets like example - it can track 15 targets & engage 6 meaning guide 6 AAMs. With ARH AAMs the situation becomes deadlier.
A scenario was described that to counter say 20 incoming enemy jets, perhaps only 3-4 jet would be required with max AA config.
If new jet has better radar & longer range AAMs then that scenario can work.
By the time enemy will detect the new jet or ready to fire their AAMs, their RWRs will be flashing forcing them to defend.
Then rivals will make their jets, but the ability continues.
It become a ping-pong chain reaction.

5gen jets were also marketed like that - 1st look, 1st shot, 1st kill. imagine a group of 6 F-22 jets with lowest RCS ripple firing 6x4=24 AAMs at 24x 4gen jets. The surviving jets will be dealt in 2nd wave of BVR shots or WVR.
Since 1990s, F-22 pilots in documentaries & interviews have said that in excercises they shot down F-15, 16, etc like mosquitos, 1st in BVR then in WVR then in gun-fight.

Now 6gen will be expected to sneak & engage better.

Mechanically steered radar means gimbals, electric motors, power diverted to move it.
AMCA already a small jet with small nose, so better to have modular DESA (Distributed Electronicaly Steered Array). And we can have some dosa.

If F135 engine is given w/o ToT also then it can be used for R&D of new jets design.

HMD is hard but possible.
But gotta buy f35 for that and also pay lot of extra to uncle Sam.
