WHY can’t the indian military intercept comms between terrorists and hunt them down like that?

Because they are using a decent and optimized comms plan and architecture. They are utilizing multiple bands UHF, MW (satcom) with some standard or spread spectrum modulation techniques alongside maintaining radio discipline during the ops they carry out. These are not your regular brute force hardcore mujahideen.

They have the advantage in night fighting now. Army still doesn’t have any newer night fighting capabilities.

Ohkay so yesterday according to Snehesh -

• Trts tracked from Doda to Gagarmandu of Anantnag ~ 60-70 km through dense forest and mountains as high as 14000 ft. Not a small feet. If a PARA SF team is tracking them then it is hell of a feet.
  
  
• PARA SF group spots the terrorists just 150-200m away. Decides to set up ambush instead of opening fire immediately.
  
  
• The ambush group gets spotted by terrorists, terrorists open fire on own troops. In exchange of fire, 2 militants killed, 1 injured. 2 of our own killed in retaliatory fire.

I will say this is our first success, a ray of hope. We were able to track them over extremely long distances and close the gap. Last-minute bad luck gave away our positions. Militants don't have the upper-hand anymore.
