How did we get 5 causlaties? It’s impossible for them to attack a post in small number. They most certainly got artillery fire support.

My guess would be that the party led by Major was searching the pigs and were spotted by them before and in the first volley we got casualties we retaliated and killed one rest is still unknown.

It was definitely a raid but not what you are thinking
-Some militant movement was detected by the security forces during searches near Kumkadi post.
-When security forces challenged the militants, they fired upon the party, which was effectively retaliated triggering off a gunfight.

It was attack on post but we were vigilant not surprised as some media walas say

My personal take on this -

We bit more than we can chew. It would have been wise to align with one superpower (either USA or China), grow our economy to ~20T, modernize our Army like China, flush off all insurgencies & seperatist movements, then we could have taken the step towards strategic autonomy.

Instead, we foolishly cozied up to a dying relic of past Russia, who have no real future. Nostalgia or long-term trust aside, we should have been wiser to understand there is no long-term friend in global diplomacy.

Now some deshbhakts will come to me frothing from mouth how we are strong independent nation doing the correct thing of not being anybody's pet. To that, I will say, you need friends and connections to succeed in life.
Even China for the first 20-25 years of their economic growth was a timid yes-man of western powers keeping below the radar and slowing becoming the manufacturing superpower. You can show bravado once you have become so big nobody can touch you.

What is absolutely pissing me off is no offensive posture from either Army or Airforce. Previously such dastardly attacks would have seen artillery formations moved to frontlines, soldier's leaves cancelled and mass-mobilization to a scale Pakistan started pissing its pants.

But no, this time, there is absolutely no reaction whatsoever. No aggressive CAPs from IAF, no heavy equipment of Army moved to the frontline, nothing. The only thing they did was move a divison-sized light infantry formation to Jammu area, that's it.

On a sidenote the knife is not a general purpose combat knife but a knife specifically choosen for beheadings/butchering , the upward sloping tip is used in butchering knifes for deeper cuts and makes it easier to peel and separate the bone from the meat. .

these knifes will be pretty much useless for fieldcraft roles .

Reason ? To teach us a lesson on stakes of strategic autonomy.

Chronology -

• We followed the foreign policy of non-alignment. We won't take sides, and we piss off countries who wants to build relations (read USA/NATO) with us.
  
  
• USA tried a lot to woo us, to leave Russian camp, but we were strictly formal with them. USA helped us in tacking Chinese threat on LAC with intelligence & weapons. We took it as granted.
  
  
• Miffed USA started poking us with Khalistanis, Pannun, etc. We responded with assasinations. This hurt USA's ego massively. Still they were willing to forgive us.
  
  
• Final nail in coffin was Modi hugging Putin on the next day of Ukrainian hospital bombing. Even US Amb. Eric Garcetti directly warned us that strategic autonomy means you will have no friends when you are attacked.

• Its honestly a opportunity handed to them on platter to grab some more territory across LAC. China has already moved troops as part of its summer excercise, and they can attack anytime.
  
  
• However, China is smarter, so they are using our precarious situation to force us into negotiations.

• If the negotiations fail, Pakistan and China can gang-up on us. All parties win except for us. If negotiations succeeds, China now has normalised LAC aggression. They can still attack nonetheless.

Direct flight to China started resuming slowly and Chinese direct investment on non critical sectors like solar energy and battery likely to be allowed. Coming months there may be a temporary reduction of troops at LAC. Once the negotiations with china progresses on positive note we may see a larger scale action LOC. Russia may play a greater role in influencing china

Clear lack of intent from both political and military leadership. Even though army facing challenges in filing the gaps created post LAC build up, alternate sources of powerprojection is clearly missing. Is IN and IAF sleeping ?? A real time CAP along LOC gives hundred times more combat experience than sending Su30 and Rafales several miles across to participate in air exercises

Looks like he got the memo—Mudi's visiting this August. The US is wild about Ukraine, even giving an Oscar to RRR just because it featured the president's house in a song.

We seriously needs to revamp foreign policy. Russia's only clinging to India for its oil to keep its crumbling economy afloat. We can handle this quietly, without all the noise and drama. Russia's a goner, a Chinese puppet. It's only a matter of time before China takes over.

If India wants to become a major economy, it has to focus on manufacturing. To make this dream a reality, we need to align with the West.

Instead of pandering to the West with pointless ideas like wokeness, which hampers our growth, we should cherry-pick elements that spur development.

Even our main sector, services, heavily relies on the West. The best strategy is to keep the West on our side in a way that benefits our growth, avoiding unnecessary conflicts with Uncle Sam, even if it means cooling off ties with Russia.

Right now, our foreign policy is a mess.

Pakistan and India were always lined up against each other at the LOC.. China joined in force in 2020.. So, they have been arrayed against us for 4 years now.. A situation like this in Jammu Kashmir is not surprising... So, what explains the slow Artilery orders ?

We BUY russian oil. Like we BUY ameircan weapons. Like we BUY french airplanes. We are not getting stuff for free over here.

We are as much on Russian side as we are on Israel's side in the Gaza war..
Now America would like us to be like Serbia..which ships Ammunition to Ukraine via third parties.. But , India doesn't do that, because India needs Russian help in maintaining Russian origin equipment..
This pressure from Pakistan, China and US Will only get worse because:
1. Ukraine is again rapidly losing ground in Donetsk. AS PER Ukraine general Syrsyki Against 1.5 lakh initial invasion force, Russian now has a force of 5 lakh in Ukraine. Russia now has 3500 tanks against 1500 tanks initially.. And unless US and Western Europe turn into war economies [which they never will for Ukraine], they can never turn the tide in this attrition war.. The humiliation will make the Americans more bitter towards India..
2. RUSSIA and Chinese strategic bombers violated Alaska ADIZ together for the first time.. So, military cooperation is further on the rise..

Only option for India is take the hits.. Display character.. and place massive orders for ground warfare equipment like Artillery, rockets etc.. so that we are better placed against Pakistan and China in a couple of years..
