Spoiler : project dhwani is a project to make hypersonic glide vehicles in house

The function of HGVs is to slow the warhead down and glide from the speed aquired by the warhead during the final phase of a ballistic missile

The advantage of this is normally warhead is ballistically travelling so its trajectory is easily detected and using air defences are also easier
To solve this the ballistic missiles tech evolved to MaRV (manuverable re-entry vehicle ) which does little manuvers terminally to avoid interception
Noy the newest brand in the town the HGVs does this the best way they can travel 100s of kilometer just gliding so you cant know what city is the target it could be beijing initially but by gliding it may reach cities near to it and all

A HGV already in service is the well known avengard glide vehicle of russia used in their satan icbm

44 wing kits of a newer variant of Garuthma is under fabrication.

Garuthma mk2 is most probably Gaurav LRGB. 44 kits means 44 Garuthma glide bombs are being made.

DcPP of LRGB is Adani Defense.

Well, there's Gaurav, Gautam, Garuthma and Garuda class of glide bombs. And now there's a Garuthma mk2 bomb, maybe with a seeker I guess, same as in case of SAAW mk2/EO.

Then we have-->
TARA glide kits for bombs
PGHSLD kits
SAAW series bombs
REK kits needed as per positive indigenisation list, drdo seen working there
REK kit with rocket booster, mentioned in IDeX challange, maybe Drdo will work here too

This drdo REK cam out of nowhere.
But why this when TARA kit already exist for range augmentation.

And what about PGHSLD and winged PGHSLD, is the project dropped. Last I heard was their tests on SU30 mki. If not dropped then where are the orders, apparently SAAW is ordered and we heard it. Or they dropped PGHSLD and moved to TARA.

And these are only guided ones, there are other indigenous bombs like FAE bomb, thermobaric bomb, hsld, gp series, prefragmented bombs in various sizes as well, did those got orders or not??

We are still missing indigenous cluster and incendiary bombs types development.

My brain hurts thinking about the whereabouts of our air to ground guided bombs project.

There is alot of confusion I guess we will have alot bug series of bombs like paveway series , gbu , mk series.
And the pghsld was kit which was fitted on hsld.

Also what abt sudarshan is it ordered in large numbers..

Sudarshan was cancelled a long time ago due to some roll issues and then we ordered some griffin kits for hsld bomb, anyway Sudarshan was made for the ugly 1000lbs British bombs we still use..... That I am sure about

And as of now we are still mainly using dumb bombs as main payload and some Spice and KAB series bombs in relatively very small quantities for specialised roles.... We don't possess spice 1000, only spice 2000 fyi

If AF is smart enough to learn from Ukraine war, there is a need to move away from dumb bombs to glide ones in mass numbers for ground strike roles

Vayu Shakti is a good metric which shows what the IAF trains in and that is shown there i.e. still using dumb bombs for majority strikes

Hopefully all these so many guided bombs projects are indicative of move towards more precision weapons acquisition

DRDO sanctions seven new projects to the private sector under Technology Development Fund scheme

Providing impetus to Aatmanirbharta, Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) has awarded seven new projects to industries under the Technology Development Fund scheme for various requirements of the Armed Forces and aerospace & defence sectors. These project sanctions are a testimony to the continuing endeavour of DRDO in nurturing Industries, especially MSMEs & start-ups, in defence and aerospace domains. The indigenous development of these technologies will strengthen the military industrial ecosystem. The details of the sanctioned projects are given below:

Indigenous Scenario and Sensor Simulation Toolkit

The project involves development of an indigenous toolkit for simulator training of pilots in realistic scenarios. This will help in full mission planning and large force engagement. The project has been awarded to start-up, Oxygen 2 Innovation Pvt Ltd, Noida.

Underwater Launched Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

The project relates to a versatile marine battlefield accessories which can be deployed in multiple combat roles. The objective is Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA). The project has been awarded to Sagar Defence Engineering Pvt Ltd Pune.

Long-range Remotely Operated Vehicles for Detection & Neutralisation

The vehicles are dual-use systems that will enable detection, classification, localisation & neutralisation of underwater objects while keeping the key assets away from the suspected operational area. The project has been awarded to a start-up, IROV Technologies Pvt Limited, Kochi.

Development of Ice Detection Sensor for Aircraft

The project aims to develop detecting icing condition inflight, caused by super cooled water droplets that freezes after their impact against the aircraft external surfaces and is utilised by the aircraft for turning on the aircraft Anti-icing mechanism. There's a great new fellas. We may well have tested a wave glider HGV some time back.

IMG-20240711-WA0022.jpg

Can't reveal more because of obvious reasons.

Now there's a catch. This pic and other pics that I will not be able to post raises more questions than answers. The various drawings are in different scales.

The glide body in question is a proper wave glider with high L/D ratio and not your conical glider. The vehicle in question has a semi circular nose of around 100 mm in dia which makes it more interesting . Is this a scaled down vehicle meant for tests ?

OR

We are designing a new gen of wave gliding RV which will be MIRVed in the post boost vehicle / hub of 2 m dia class BMD like Agni 3 and Agni 5. Now a wave glider has less internal volume than a traditional conical or biconic RV and thus less space for the actual package. But we have miniaturised our physics packages and we can currently have a sub 100 kT device in the 250-300 kg class and very less volume. Now why would you want to trade a conical RV for a lifting body wave rider ? Firstly because these gliders can be injected less precisely without any velocity and three dimensional positional constraints. Secondly and more importantly, this wave glider can glide/ fly in an empowered mode and make all types of crazy maneuvers in 3D space / veer widely from the approx trajectory of the PBCV in both azimuth and elevation. An early warning radar tracking the post boost vehicle and the glider can't extrapolate the HGV trajectory and the engagement FCR wont be able to make approx intercept calculations based on the velocity and point of release from the bus. The intercept geometry becomes much more complicated thus neutralizing exo atmospheric area defense BMD. Up until the very last moment with the glider esque RV nearing its target, the hostile nation won't know which of its city/facility - HVT/HVA is being targeted. Interception is only possible through endo atmospheric point BMD.

The only downside is relatively less terminal velocity vis a vis traditional RV/MIRV/MaRV. Herein you are basically trading speed for maneuverability. The longer you maneuver in the dense air of lower atmosphere the slower the wave glider gets.

The vehicle whose pic I have posted is small enough that ..... such vehicles can be installed inside our Agni 5. There's some speculation that this RV has already been tested.

images - 2024-07-11T142324.157.jpeg

There are some notches present on the surface of the vehicle for control surfaces. Maybe for twin canted vertical tails. Maybe not. If these vertical fins are there, they need to be in folded position when installed on the PBCV/bus.

Bharat may already be in the prestigious HGV club and by HGV I mean Avanguard/ DF-17 type proper wave lifting HGV.

Now some of you may ask as to why I have made such a wild speculation. Yes, you can ask and its a genuine question.

It's because this vehicle or wave glider comes under Project 191. And I have seen this P 191 no mentioned in multiple tenders and docs of both Agni 5 mk2 and Project Dhvani. Which made me come to this conclusion.

It may also be possible that there's a slightly larger vehicle and only one of this is carried by the PBCV of Agni 5 mk2.

Anyways Agni 5 and this vehicle shares a close connection. A nikat sambandh.
