DRDO and PSU's

Then what the heck we learnt from MRSAM VLU? We are making our own VLS and found out it is heavy and need major design changes.

8 missile weighs at 1360kg
vls (without missile) weighs at 2840 kg (at max)
btw this might be fire control radar of vlsrsam since we havent seen it on any other ship other thanins rana

  • Provision of Man on Launcher switch.
  • Mechanical and electrical stoppers for training and elevation limits.
  • Covers to protect from direct contact of seawater.
Salient Design Features

MPF is the OEM of Kavach Mod II Chaff Decoy System and has till date successfully commissioned total 09 system on-board i.e. Kolkata Class P15A, Kamorta Class-P28 and fleet tankers INS Deepak and INS Shakti.

Anti-ship missiles are a major threat to all vessels. Missiles launched from ships, airborne platforms, submarines and shore-based launchers can sink or completely disable a ship with a single hit.

The KAVACH MOD-II provides soft kill defence in a three-layered defense scheme as below:

Confusion Mode: Tactics against enemy search radar at a distance of 30 km or more, launch Long-Range Chaff Rocket (LRCR I/LRCR II) to deliver chaff at 5-12 Km away and 800 meters height from launcher to prevent the enemy from locating the ship.

Distraction Mode: To protect against incoming missile at 20 Km or more before opening its homing head, launch Medium Range Chaff Rocket (MRCR) to deliver chaff 2-4 KM away and 800-1000 meters height from launcher.

Seduction/Centroid Mode: To protect against a “Locked on” missile at a distance of 10 KMS or less launch Short Range Chaff Rocket (SRCR) to deliver chaff at 50-150 meters height from launcher.

a horrible POS gun. The BMP 2 turret works fine on land, at sea, especially because these are mounted on FACs which are the lightest warships - ergo horrible pitch and roll and exposure to seaspray.

I had to use fucking vaseline on the links to keep it from clogging the guns.

just putting land equipment on sea is always a bad move the corrosion at sea is different level altogether plus russian reliability (/s) does the perfect job

There's some great news in the A2A Bvraam front.

Development trials of Astra mk2 are almost complete and user trials will be completed within the next six months.

Series production of Astra mk2 will start by Dec 2024. BDL is the lead manufacturing agency.

images - 2024-07-12T191143.459.jpeg

Astra mk2 will be initially integrated into Su-30MKI, Tejas mk1A and MiG-29UPG. Later it will be integrated with IN MiG-29K.

The value of the deal is estimated at Rs 3000 crores and it will be signed within the next few months.

GoI has cleared Astra mk2 for export. So once, BDL is able to fulfill the requirements of the Indian armed forces , the missile will be available for export.

Once inducted early next year, Astra mk2 will change the air superiority calculus in the subcontinent. PAF J-10CP and JF-17 Blk 2 and 3 will be giving our Sukhois,MiGs and Tejas a very wide berth. PAF will avoid any sort of aerial engagement with us at all costs.

Zee business has history of wrongly comprehended things
Astra mk2 hasn't received dac approval until now if I remember how come orders worth 3000 crores be placed in few months

If DAC approval comes within a month and the MoD push through things , then negotiations by CNC will be completed within 6 months.

Let's take a timeframe of 8-10 months to be on the safe side. Let's see.

Were there any DAC and CCS approval for procurement of LRIP Saaw ?

Besides, lots of work have been carried out over the last few years. Most of it has escaped our attention.

Like how the telemetry setup was upgraded for Astra mk2 trials.

Then they installed a missile simulator and launcher simulator. Missile simulator is to check out how the seeker and guidance section behaves and responds to air targets with different RCS, speed, maneuvering , alt, in various launch conditions like presence of clutter, hostile jamming, etc...

I personally believe that most of the developmental trials are complete and user trials are left. Afterall, Astra mk2 shares almost similar dimensions with mk1. Mk2 is a fatter missile with a 190 mm dia vs 178 mm for mk1. It will be next to impossible to differentiate between an Astra mk1 and mk2 with our naked eyes.

I don't think saaw costed 3000 crores
It will definitely go through all procedures and it will take atleast 2 years if things move fast

Regarding its development yes it's very fast as no much difference from previous platform
Let's see how much time will user trails go

so much contradicting news, earlier it was told astra mk2 will be tested sometimes later this year

DRDL is developing BMP-2K based Namica which will have Nag mk2 missiles in newly designed twin missile launcher modules.Configuration of the new turret with the launchers, azimuth gear box, APU, launchers and newly developed FCS and sighting system has been finalised.

This new twin launcher module with Nag mk2 will also be installed on the new advanced armoured platform( wheeled and tracked ) now being developed by VRDE and CVRDE.

Let's hope this new Namica configuration with Nag mk2 sees induction in three digit nos.

Please don't use personal attacks, new guy.

Me has never been that type.

Let's, focus on things,

How exactly is Nagmk2 different from earlier version, like in terms of weight, range and seeker type. Yet to see any figures on that. I don't think there has been any tests of this Nagmk2 missile.
