So far, this design has gone from Israel(Harpy)/Iran -> Russia -> Ukraine -> USA.
I think it should be copied by DRDO or some local private defense company.

He does have a point. Initially it was speculated we'd go in for the Super Hornets in the MRCBF deal for precisely this reason. Interoperability with the USN in case of a war in the IOR.

It's also the reason we're going in for mating western missiles with our FAs so that you don't have to go thru the pain of doing so in the midst of a conflict like we did in Kargil & like Ukraine is doing so now .

This is what criminal wastage of resources looks like . There are enough MSME cos out there who can make this leaving the DRDO free to commit resources to more important things.

DRDO must be the only defence development agency in the world to design specialised water bottles & also sophisticated items like the KED to Arjun & Zorawar tanks to SSBNs to you name it.
