Sharp is in talks with several Indian players and top executives from its display vertical have met with potential partners, one of the sources said. "They have received a positive response from some and are in advanced stages of discussion and should announce their partner by the end of the year," the person said.

"Sharp has engaged in setting up display fabs for partners in other countries like China, Korea and Taiwan. In India, too, they are looking at a similar strategy wherein they are looking to partner with a strong Indian player who will take the lead on the project and they will provide their technical expertise," the person said.

I have heard about this guy long ago. Most of what he used to say either had no relation to the topic or he was completely exaggerating. It's funny he underestimates assembly and packaging of semiconductors. He seems to think it is a screw driver job. A google search would tell assembly and packing of chips requires special set of skills and not any high schooler or drop outs can do. Obviously, we are funding Micron plant because we want to get a foot in the door. Expecting India to hit a bulls eye by building cutting edge fab in it's first foray into the industry is expecting to build a iron man suit in a desert.

50% of micron funding is coming from GoI and Guj govt, how much is U.S gov investing in this?

muricans in their talk shops for past year, keep talking about some development fund corporation along with this micron investment, but not how much of their money has gone to this micron plant.

micron is getting 6 billion $ US gov. grant for setting up plants in U.S.
