AFAIK every single BEML product is more or less licensed production of counterparts already existing in Euroland. Our BEML mine vehicle was also a license copy of a German machine.
That said I don't think india will be able to produce most of those 60% localized parts let alone upscaling or tuning them.

They can sell us their IP rights for a decent shekles, no objection. They are the ones that originally mastered multi layered circuit and sold manufacturing tech for the same to China. Now what China did is researched the tech reversed engineer the same and innovated and upgraded the same. As it stands now China supplies the world with circuits.

I can just hope that GOI realises that they are in the position of power and gets Tech/IP rights as much as possible. The system here is crumbling and now is the right time to strike!!

I say we must go all 10 inches deep into Germany, extract whatever tech transfer or manufacturing investment we can

We made a great mistake in not joining in the rape of Russia in the 90s, Cheen apparently stole a lot of defense stuff including literal scientists from there, this is another golden opportunity, we must swoop down like hungry vultures upon Deutschland

They have given special status with regards to defense purchases from Germany during the recent visit of Olaf Scholz. I say we double down and ask for defense manufacturing in India. The list is long. They have lot of tech with respect to submarines, tanks, rifles, and even Jet Engines. Promise them multibillion euro opportunity in India's defense sector if they are willing to manufacture weapons here. We should start with something small and see their attitude towards us.

CDU will definitely form the next government. I don't think they have answers to present economic crisis either. At the most they will agree to soften the blow to their automotive sector by giving some handouts to their automakers. China market is done and dusted as I have said before. They are barely hanging on to a thread in China. India must grab the opportunity and present a another market of billion people.

BEML is doing quite well on some fronts. They absorbed the rolling stock tech from Hyundai RoTEM and now using that experience to prototype indigenous HSR trainsets. Also in the process of developing sleeper Vande Bharat together with Titagarh (who themselves have access to European HSR tech courtesy of their Italian subsidiary Firema Transporti).

They have a good track record - gormint can trust them.

We should take submarines from Spain and jets from France if it's really necessary

First of all having many different types of Jets in IAF arsenal will be a pure logistical and maintenance nightmare. Not to mention other things like interoperability of weapons and systems. Another thing is Eurofighter is built by a consortium of 4 countries which includes UK, Germany, Spain, and Italy. Of these UK and Italy are also in F-35 program and have already received their first batches of F-35 fighter Jets. This means there will be no mid-life upgrade costs footed by UK and Italy. The entire mid-life upgrade will fall on Germany and Spain who don't spend much money on defense which means these costs will be passed on to customers who are using Eurofighter like Saudi Arabia and any country which will use or buy in future.

People in IAF are a bunch of corrupt scumbags. Choosing Rafale was the only sensible decision they have taken in the last 20 years. The last thing we need is another foreign mal in IAF. Germany has lot of other defense technology which we must be eyeing for in return for some ToT and manufacturing in India. Germany has AIP technology for submarines too. We should look into that.

Small Arms, Armour, Air Defence, AIP and civil engineering tech like CnC , drill machines etc should be on Indias shopping list.

It's rather we buy the German subs, the particular line is used by many navies, we can purchase Juan Carlos LHD design from Spaniards for the LHD/LPD program

As the resident German NRI says below, we can extract a lot of good stuff from Germany, now that they are also enthused about us
