The trade between India and Canada is extremely low(it seems , experts may correct), hopefully the trade will increase in trump era, Canadians may face some tariffs on their business with USA, GOI should seek out trade opportunities and facilitate pvt trade opportunities for Canadian companies and provinces on a war footing.
There was appointment of on Saskatchewan trade representative but it's not enough lot more has to be done , especially by Indian pvt sector.
This will be effective more in GtoP and PtoP level as the Canadian govt is not keen on business ties at GtoG level.

If there are any recent examples it would be better? Going back 1000 years is a stretch. Invasions changed the whole picture? There was a golden period but it was more to spread culture and religion not material gain like the west

Gurus tried their best to make society caste mukt but they failed in their endeavour, caste is a reality in our part of world. Reality is powerful caste groups converted to Sikhism not for any spiritual reason but to exploit the sense of unity and separate identity it provides for political gains. Jat is a Sikh not for spiritual reasons but for political reasons. Intercaste marriages doesn't end caste identity in Punjab, Punjab has fair amount of intercaste marriages but caste identity still exists because it originates from Paternal Ancestory/Gotra. In Haryana caste structure is more rigid like Childrens born to a Jat father and non Jat mother are not considered Jat, but in Punjab Children born to a Jat father and non Jat mother are accepted as Jat, this is the reason Sikh Jats kidnapped a lot of Muslim girls during Partition but you will not find such cases in Haryana because Children born to a Muslim woman is outcaste among Haryanvi Deshwali Hindu Jats but Children born to a Muslim woman and Jat man are accepted as Jatt among Punjabi Jats. There are cultural differences between Haryana Jats and Punjabi Jats.

btw agree with the bolded part, only cure for casteism is urbanization, hopefully with that caste and language identity chimpouts will go extinct and everyone will be attached to the overarching Indian identity.

Agree people in urban areas usually keep their identity to themselves and do not create unnecessary ruckus.
